Step 1: Create level
Open Level Editor from the main menu and create any kind of level you would like to share with the community. Be creative and do not forget to playtest it.

Step 2: Prepare for publishing
Save the level with some clever name and open Custom Levels list from the main menu. Now you can select this level in the list and choose ‘Publish to Steam Workshop’ option. This will open a confirmation dialog where you can publish the level immediately.

Step 3: [Optional] Modify the preview
You could modify the preview before publishing the level. There are two preview images — the first is in-game preview, the second is workshop item preview. Both are .png image files and can be reached by selecting ‘Show files’ option in the dialog.

These previews can be modified in any suitable image editor (https://www.getpaint.net, GIMP[www.gimp.org], etc.). You should modify them while the ‘confirmation dialog’ is still open. The same image can be used for both files —just copy and replace one of them with another.
Step 4: Publish!
Select ‘Publish to Workshop’ option when you are ready to publish the level. In case of success — Steam overlay will appear so you could edit your workshop item name, description and add more images if needed. You can browse all your workshop items in your Steam profile as well.

Please do not forget to read and agree to the Workshop terms of service.

All published levels are marked with a special green icon in the list. This is your local copy of the level. Since you can subscribe to your own workshop items — you will get two copies of the same level in the list in this case. Don’t be confused.

You can keep local copy of the published level if you want to publish updates for it later.
You can remove your published item from the workshop page UI — the green icon will disappear in this case.

Once the level is published it’s available to the public and the rest of Protolife players. Gather feedback, discuss the possible playthrough and have fun!
