Ancestral Legacy: The Golden Child

Description
Ancestral Legacy: The Golden Child is a mod that allows you to cultivate genetic traits into your family lineage. The chance for a newborn to inherit a genetic trait is not just dependent on their parents having that trait but now includes a check on their grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great grandparents at a relatively lower chance.

This version focuses on cultivating rare newborns born with all three positive congenital traits. So, if a newborn inherits at least one positive trait, the chances of inheriting a second trait and/or a third positive trait increases.

Is the Quick trait worth it?
This mod handles the Quick trait and the Genius trait different from other positive congenital traits. If there is a successful check when passing on the Quick trait, there is a 25% chance the newborn will gain the Genius trait; else, the newborn will gain the Quick trait. This is also true for the Genius trait; a 25% chance the newborn will gain the Quick trait else the newborn will gain the Genius trait. Imbecile trait and the Slow trait share this same relationship.

And sure, your daughter may not have inherited any positive genetic traits, but if she is a descendant from a line of ancestors blessed with any combination of positive genetic traits, she can still pass these traits on to her own children and on to the next generation.

PS: Be very careful with negative genetic traits. The chance for great-grandparents and grandparents to pass on a negative genetic trait is the same as parents [e.g. 25% for Dwarf, 15% for Lisp, 25% for Left-Handed, etc.]. In other words, it is fairly easy to cultivate a family-line/dynasty of left-handed heathen warriors.

Hi Jevo. Could you guide me on how to add a new trait to this? Do I need to be able to mess with the .git filed? Ive tried adding a trait to the scripted trigger/effetcs but it doesnt do anything.

That would be cool. When is a good day/time for you?

I'm free later this week to go over this stuff. I can give you a tour of the code if you want to make your own version.

Also what are all the extra files in this mod? For instance if I wanted to add additional traits to this file do i need to change any of the files other than the scripted effects file?

If we have modified chance of passing this trait from the vanilla should I make changes to the factors/numbers in this mod?

Time to start breeding dwarfs again!

I looked around the code and yes, I believe it is possible to do this. But, I generally make mods that are fairly stand alone and do not involve changing/ignoring vanilla code, or require me to do updates whenever a new DLC comes out and generally friendly with other mods. Ethnicity may require me to do those things which I am hesitant to do.

Would it be at all possible for ethnicity to be based on a system like this? Rather than 50/50 parents it would be 25/25/25/25 grandparents? Always think its weird when one ethnicity gets passed on generation after generation.

I see. This mod checks a character's lineage (a player can use the family tree view to see if a character can pass a trait on) versus HIP which sounds like the check is on a hidden attribute carried directly on the character.

HIP genetics system changed in last patch altering somewhat advanced Genetics mod, so its deeper and has hidden genes what cab be breeded and strenght of thouse will define how big change you get to inherit traits, so even if you dont inherit you still have carrier.
