Most of secondary industries (such as tool works) have these crossings only in 1 and 2 era, then they become way too busy and I rebuild them for one way drive through station with no crossings at all, only switch before and after.
And I prefer to have these crossing as separate stamp. I rather build station manually, then I can add ANY length of track I need and/or want and then stamp the crossing.
I usually build stations for trains length 12 at the minimum and those lengths might be too much for some players and too short for others. Having crossings as separate stamps adds a lot of flexibility to the building process.
