The Tower

Description
My entry to the July 2019 Map Jam. A song mage and her guardian journey through a frozen world to a distant mountain tower to save the world from freezing over. Uses custom ambient music tracks. Thanks to Merlyn's help no other music should play during the level but if you hear Overgrowth music playing just turn music off.

UPDATE:
For everyone who experienced that annoying bug where you repeatedly fall to your death, I've uploaded a possible fix. Unfortunately since I was never able to reproduce the bug in the first place, I'm unable to test the fix myself so it only works in theory.

Ok makes sense, I added music to my level but I don't know how to override the level music and i'm trying to figure out how to spawn enemies after you defeat or reach a goal. Trying to polish my level I made years ago.

The music is my own recordings - a combination of synths and my own voice. I didn't know how to code back then or how the music system worked but a friend created a hotspot for me that muted level music, and I then played the music using a hotspot that was meant for essentially ambient background noise. So it's supposed to be for birds chirping, distant rocks falling etc etc - I used it for music instead. These days it's much easier to just add a Drika Hotspot and add a Play Music function. Actually for most vanilla functions its easier to use Drikas Hotspot instead in general.

How did you add the custom music?

Actually I never played Half Life 2 - I've had ppl say that it looks like a couple of different game levels. Just a coincidence I guess. I remember the original idea was just to have a central tower in the middle of a frozen lake, but when I blocked it out it just looked really boring, so I came up with the idea of the chains and surrounding towers to fill out the scene and it worked out really well. I have a remake of this mod in progress (very slow progress) and I think when I get to the tower level I want to make more routes an option - a few different routes up the chains, the classic central route (hardest), and a more combat oriented route for those who don't like parkour. The most common feedback I get from this mod (aside from a bug I can't seem to fix) is that people either love the difficulty of the final climb, or hate it so much it ruins the whole experience for them. So I'd like to create an option for those people who aren't as good at parkour.

Is this a half life 2 reference?

Dammn this was such a good mod but the very end is glitched out so I'll never see how it ends :sad_seagull:

i got to the end but still got the bug that made the tower not spawn
the climb was a p nice challenge though
luckily i was able to see the dialogue i missed while messing around in the editor and got the epilogue by cheating a little
overall p neat mod

chimeney park is unplayable. this isnt mario, the game isnt built to compensate. taking advantage of flawed physics engine to make a pseudo-challenge based on imprecise mechanics is bs, maybe there's a reason the devs didnt include a section like that in the base campaign. was enjoying it up till that point but im not toiling for an hour on a dumb level design decision.
