This mod adds a complete set of armored thrusters to the game. While it's certainly not the first mod of its kind, a lot of armored thruster mods seem to be based on the old DX9 models. This mod is based on the DX11 thruster models and as a result fits in neatly with the existing vanilla blocks.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:





A complete set of armored thrusters
For every ion, hydrogen and atmospheric thruster, there are two variants:
  • Armored
  • Armored Slope
For atmospheric thrusters, there are is an additional variant that has the slope on the exhaust part of the block as of patch 0.7d .

Tiered Thrusters (via additional mod)
While this mod does not include tiered thrusters, if you would like to have something akin to tiered thrusters, consider giving Meridius' Adjustable Thruster Multipliers a try. It adds sliders to all thrusters to increase thrust, while also increasing energy / fuel consumption at the same time.

Regarding more blocks / the existing blocks
  • I currently have no plans to extend this set with additional shapes due to the immense amount of work involved.
  • The thrusters not using the armor textures is intentional. It's unfortunately not possible to make the textures line up properly with surrounding armor so I've decided to instead go with this look.
Work in progress
  • While the mod looks visually complete, it's still missing some optimizations and adjustments. None of the models currently have properly adjusted hitboxes, LOD models, or their own build stage models. Nevertheless it's in a stage where it's perfectly playable. Future updates will add those elements.
  • I've added additional Steel Plates as requirements for building all of these blocks. This will also add durability to the blocks. But how many are added is likely currently fairly unbalanced. Should you have feedback regarding the amount of Steel Plates in a block, I'd love to hear it.

  • Please do not upload any alternative version of this mod without receiving permission from me first.


  • Klime - Rewriting the script to control the emissives on the thrusters.

I'm trying to figure out what mod is causing the CTD.
below is where the error that causes CTD starts in log.

I was just letting you know about the mod warning. I only seen it after another mod caused a CTD issue.

Yea, I stopped playing years ago due to all the stuff Keen had been doing. Its really unfortunate they are still lazy and don't care about anything.

Unfortunately that's a Keen bug. I can circumvent the system but have not gotten around to implementing it on my older mods yet.

Is there a chance you can fix the bug in the mod that renames everything to "DisplayName_AQD_LG_GyroUpgrade 3" and such? Its actually in all of your mods. When you load from a save, like my game crashed and I resumed game, everything got renamed to that. Apparently its something to do with the language files not being set up right according to a discord modder when I asked why several mods are doing this. I've never messed with locals so I wouldn't know.
