"Dr. Death" Steve Williams followed up a brief professional football career with an wrestling career that saw him go unpinned in the US for over a decade.

The former Oklahoma Sooner got his start working for Mid-South Wrestling in 1982. After Mid-South became the UWF, Williams won the UWF Heavyweight Championship, and became a force in the NWA when the UWF was bought by Jim Crockett Promotions.

Dr. Death teamed up and later feuded with The Varsity Club, and later formed a successful tag team, The Miracle Violence Connection, with Terry Gordy.

Williams wrestled for AJPW throughout much of the 90's, and won the Triple Crown Championship in 1994 from Mitsuhara Misawa.

Not long after his first defeat in the US against then-ECW Champion Raven, Williams signed with the WWF. He was expected to win the Brawl for All tournament, but was upset by Bart Gunn in the semifinals after tearing his hamstring. When Williams returned, his planned push to the main event scene never happened, and he moved into midcard feuds before leaving in 1999. Williams bounced back to WCW before a brief WWF return.
