This is the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. You will need the Rising Sun Mod to play the map. The mission is GEM editor only (probably my best mission ever). Sometimes the text for the mission objectives gets scrambled... its a glitch.

To get the best skins for the viet minh, please use my MOD IN PROGRESS mod. This mod has skin pack for the mission.

It is 1954 and the battle has been culminating to this for around 2 months. French forces deployed to a valley near the Vietnam/Laos border. The French Forces seeked to draw the guerilla force known as the Viet Minh into a staged set piece battle to destroy them. The wanted to do this with armor, big guns, and air resupply.

The French underestimated you and your determination. For months the Vietnamese dug tunnels and trench surrounding the French forces. The French believed the mountain to be un passable and the jungle too treacherous for large movement....... they were wrong. Artillery pieces and thousands of pissed off Viet Minh surrounded the French forces. Aircraft began to get shot down, and the forced became surrounded!

Take charge on the Sapper mission. Lead your comrades past the wire and into the trenches. Feel the helplessness of the French as they were suffocated. The arrogance and failure to re-colonize a population cost the French this battle. This battle shook the world as a security nation of the Western World was defeated by a massive peasant army trained with revenge.

This battle marked the termination of the French in Vietnam, and cause the French Government in Paris to resign.

Colonialism was defeated and a people led by Ho Chi Minh braced for the global response. Their determination after Japanese Occupation led them to finally oust all Colonial Powers.
