Corruption of the Realms

Description
Corruption of the Realms is a fantasy diplomacy scenario.

NOTE: This map requires the following dataset to work: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1766278327
It will not work without the dataset.

A copy/paste version of the civ list can be found at the bottom of the description, using non-listed civs might cause the game to break.


THE GAME:
Corruption of the Realms revolves around unpredicatable gameplay. Engage in Machiavellian practices as the Black Lord, crusade against evil as the Saviour, or be caught in the middle as one of the neutral nations. Player roles are unknown and randomized every game, so your allies might turn out to be evil incarnate when you least expect it.

The Black Lord and the Saviour get access to powerful units, buildings and abilities. They are able to perform rituals and blessings in the eastern corner of the map, which can give them a variety of bonuses, offensive capabilities or corrupt/bless another player and make them join team evil/good. A good Black Lord player can singlehandedly take on several neutral players, and may require the Saviour to be dealt with.

If the Black Lord or Saviour get defeated before 2 hours game time, they may be replaced. A second Black Lord will be chosen at random, and the mantle of the Saviour may be assumed by any player quick enough to take it.

Beyond the good vs. evil aspect and the new unit types, the game plays out as a relatively normal FFA diplomacy scenario, along the lines of GOT. Players will have to scheme, fight or buy their way to victory by getting their hands on enough relics, castles and keeps to win.


UNITS:
The dataset adds over two dozen new units and three new unit classes. The names of the units can usually hint to what they are good at. In general, evil units are very powerful but are countered by the Saviour's units. Monstrous units can be compared to war elephants and cavalry, but take no bonus damage from pikemen. Magical units have high armor and their powerful attacks ignore normal armor, but they usually have low health. Units from the new Tavern building are the answer to monstrous and magical units.
A short description of each unit can be found in the east corner of the map, and can be observed during gameplay.



SETTINGS:
The game must be started in Feudal age due to the custom dataset.
Hard difficulty is recommended so the gaia bandits will attack villagers in a large radius like they are intended to, but if you dislike bandits the difficulty can be lowered.

- Capture 2 castles.
- Capture 3 keeps.
- Capture 3 relics.
- Gather 4 bannermen.

Hold for 15 minutes to win.

Relics will start spawning in the central city after 1h 45m.
Bannermen can be built from keeps.

PLAYERS 1 and 2: Western Realms
- Swordsmen have +10hp, +1 pierce armor, +4 magic armor.
- Crossbowmen have +5hp, +1 dmg, +3 magic armor.
- Priests have +5hp, +2 dmg.
- Court mages regenerate, train 25% faster.
(Magic units count as gunpowder units for upgrades)

PLAYER 1 - Yr Cildrhedyn (Italians/Portuguese/Turks)
PLAYER 2 - Yr Bynáedd (Italians/Portuguese/Indians)

PLAYERS 3 and 4: Eastern Realms
- Pikemen have +10hp, +1 dmg.
- Archers have +5hp, +1 range.
- Tavern units cost 10% less gold.
- Able to create necromancers from taverns. (5 max)

PLAYER 3 - Sudcynderwen (Teutons/Vikings/Slavs)
PLAYER 4 - Nordcynderwen (Teutons/Vikings/Japanese)

PLAYERS 5 and 6: Northern Realms
- Swordsmen have +5hp, +1 dmg.
- Archers and pikemen cost 15% less, deal +4 dmg vs. monsters.
- Monster slayers cost 20% less gold.
- Barracks and archery range work 15% faster.
- +50 population limit.

PLAYER 5 - Strathcláer (Celts/Goths/Franks)
PLAYER 6 - Múirbannoch (Celts/Goths/Huns)

PLAYERS 7 and 8: Southern Realms
- Knights have +20hp, +2 dmg.
- Skirmishers have +1 dmg, cost 15% less.
- Witch hunters cost 25% less gold.
- Barracks units deal +3 dmg vs. magical units.
- Start with very strong defences and a keep.

PLAYER 7 - Ardoynia (Britons/Spanish/Magyars)
PLAYER 8 - Káedmyr (Britons/Spanish/Byzantines)

GAME MECHANICS:

- After 10 minutes your role will be revealed: either good, evil or neutral.
- Roles are hidden. Neutral players may become good or evil later.
- Gaia castles will open after 30 minutes.
- Castles and keeps provide resources.
- The tavern building creates counter units for magical/monstrous units.
- Faction leaders may enter shadow forts or lairs to hunt for relics and gold.
- Bandits and powerful mercenaries can be hired in the eastern corner of the map.

BLACK LORD MECHANICS:

- Gain access to powerful units and buildings.
- Your units are countered by good units.
- Your faction leader becomes VERY powerful in combat.
- You can use your hidden identity to your advantage

RITUALS:
- After 30 minutes, you gain the ability to do 1 ritual every 10 minutes.
- The ritual takes the form of a Queen that spawns in the eastern corner of the map, hidden behind some rocks to keep your identity hidden.
- Amongst other things, you can corrupt other players through rituals, to make them join your side.
- Your fellow realm takes only 2 rituals to corrupt.
- The Saviour cannot be corrupted.

RITUAL VICTORY:
Alternative to regular conquest victory. To win, you must:
- Corrupt 2 players.
- Hold the central castle of Dinas Cannaid.
- Place 4 relics on the ground near the summoning circle at Dinas Cannaid.
Hold these for 15 minutes.

SAVIOUR OF THE REALMS MECHANICS:

- Gain access to semi-powerful units and buildings.
- Your units are very strong versus evil units.
- Your faction leader is the only one who can kill the evil faction leader.

BLESSINGS:
- Every 30 minutes, you gain the ability to do 1 blessing per each relic you own. (up to 3)
- The blessing takes the form of a Queen that spawns in the eastern corner of the map, hidden behind some rocks to keep your identity hidden.
- You can bless other players through rituals, and have them help you out.
- The Black Lord cannot be blessed.

@mrk_ck That message pops up when AI is enabled on custom size maps. Did you put an AI for player 2 that wasnt immobile units? If so, the map crashes due to the AI being unable to cope with the increased map size.

mine was working fine till recently. now it comes up with:

Player 2 AI Script Error.
AI file Error: 'Promisory' Line 3802
ERR2004: Missing indentifier: water-islands.

anyone else had this?
up until then it was a 5* map!

I know nothing about making scenarios,but is it possible to make the area where the savior and black lord do their stuff fog? I'm asking because whenever BL/Savior gets a queen it's a dead giveaway if anybody sees it.

@nayrkrab The dataset only works with the map and the map only works with the dataset. If you try a random map with the dataset itll probably crash.

Having a bit of trouble trying to get it to play correctly, is there a particular map it works best on or should the Corruption of the realms dataset take care of that? ( sorry if dumb question, fairly new to mods.)
