Siege Warfare

Description
This mod adds three new buildings, seven new units and a number of new technologies. The idea is to make the game more interesting by adding specialised units and siege related units that make combat feel different. This mod adds a powerful new Citadel building, a Tavern, Caltrops, 3 new siege units, 2 new raiding units, a monk unit and a new heavy cavalry unit.

INSTALLATION:

This mod is very simple to install. It is known as a data mod, which means that when you have subscribed, you must enable the mod from the game setup menu when beginning a single or multiplayer game. - Be patient when you first select this mod in the menu as it often takes a while to load the first time you use the mod!

In game text must be activated using a separate mod, which will be released shortly!

Buildings:

Citadel: The Citadel is a powerful new buidling available in the castle age. It comes at a high cost to balance its defensive capabilities and unit production capacity. Can train Longswordsmen, Crossbowmen and Knights - all un upgradable.

Tavern: The Tavern is a new building designed to give villagers a boost. Available in castle age, the tavern contains four new technologies that impact both villagers and monks.

Caltrops: Caltrops are deployed by villagers in castle age and damage units that attack them.

Units:

Sapper: The Sapper is available from the Siege Workshop in castle age and is a unit that specialises in destroying walls, gates and buildings. Now the cheapest available siege unit, with low hitpoints and speed.

Archballista: A huge, long-range siege unit with very high base damage. Particularly good against elephants, slow and comes with a high minimum range.

Warbowman: The Warbowman is a deployable long range siege archer unit. Available in the early game from the archery range, this unit allows for early sieges and raids. Very poor against other units at a distance and will be easily countered by other siege and infantry. Particularly strong defence against cavaly due to deployed stakes.

Hunting Dog: The hunting dog is a fast unit that can be built in the dark age from the Outpost. This unit can be used for scouting, raiding and protecting villagers against wolves and the like. Also deals significant damage to elephants in large numbers.

Varangian Mercenary: The VM is a brand new raiding unit, with similar stats to the Viking Berserk. However, this unit is also specialised in killing enemy special units and as such, does significant damage to an enemy's unique castle unit.

Great Cross: The Great Cross is a large, resistant monk unit with high HP, great range and slightly increased conversion rates. Still able to heal friendly units and is affected by a few of the vanilla monk related technologies. Available in the monastry from castle age but very expensive.

Marshal: The marshal is a powerful, self regenerative, AoE heavy cavalry unit. It comes at a heavy cost to both food and gold and has a number of expensive pre-requisites to balance its tanking capabilties.

Technologies:

Varangian Mercenaries: Unlocks the Varangian Mercenary at the Citadel.
Provincial Recruitment: Enables recruitment of Longswordsmen, Crossbowmen and Knights from the Citadel.
Marshals: Enables recruitment of Marshals at the Citadel.
Raise Levies: Increases the production speed of the Citadel by 50%.

Local Ales: Increases villager speed by 10%.
Honey Mead: Increases villager hitpoints by 30%.
Imported Wines: Increases the healing rate of garrisoned units by 10X.
Monastic Viticulture: Increases Monk speed by 10% and increases conversion rates.

BONUS: Hawks are now a prey animal and can be hunted and foraged from... just becuase why not.

did you check what it actually ends up building for that button? I know at one point there were icons that were re-used

Are all the new buildings available in all nations? I chose Teutons but they had no tavern, there were two icons of barracks and most important the citadel is not visible. Is there something I can do about that?

Yeah OP, I know DE is the rage now, but you've done super cool stuff with this mod! Would you consider continuing if some of us support you a bit on Patreon?

I love this mod! It does need to be updated, though

Tavern doesn't seem to work. Recommend to avoid until updated.

I'm loving the mod and the new units. How can I enable the villager upgrades, Lyonhearted?
CFSWarrior 15 Aug, 2019 @ 6:08am
Lyon can you fix the unit ai. The units coming from citadel don't automatically attack, and the archer, and siege, and whatever. Thanks!
