Description
NOTE: This mod will only work in the base game, not the planned DLC that will update planets. I have no intention of updating the mod to make a compatible DLC version.

Overview
This mod allows you to add planets to the starmap.

I made this mod after researching all my planets and saw I had not a single Gas Giant, which I very much wanted, so I made a mod to make it happen and tweaked it some so others can use it. I hope you find it useful!

NOTE
Please ensure to backup your save file before using this as you may place planets so that they overlap with others etc.

Quick Instructions
1) Edit "config.txt" to add the planets you want (see "config - Example.txt")
2) Open the starmap on the save file that you want to add the planets to
3) Save your map if everything went well (no planet overlaps etc.)

Setup & Usage

Planets are added using the "config.txt" file, which is intially empty. This file is in the same folder as the installed mod. The "config - Example.txt" file is an example of how to add planets, it adds one of each planet in a diagonal line starting from the bottom left.

On my machine this is in: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\mods\Steam\1749025321

Planets are added without being analysed so you will just see the planet as a question mark until you analyse it with the telescope.

Here's an explanation of the meaning of the "config.txt" file layout for adding planets (planet, range, orbit):

GasGiant,0,0
^--- Adds a Gas Giant to the closest range (e.g. 10,000km) at the far left

VolcanoPlanet,1,2
^--- Adds a Volcanic Planet to the second closest range, two in from the left

Satellite,2,2
^--- Adds a Satellite to the third closest range, 2 in from the left

Note that the "config.txt" will become renamed to "config.txt.old" after adding planets when the starmap being opened, so if you want to add more planets rename the file back to "config.txt".
This is to ensure additional saves are unaffected, and allows control of the planet generation per save by renaming the config file and loading up a save file you want to add planets to.

Logging
Logging is disabled by default, it can be enabled by changing the "0" to a "1" in the "EnableLogging.txt" file in the same directory as the "config.txt"

Logging is written to the Oxygen Not Included log file, which is located at:%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Klei\Oxygen Not Included

The logging will begin with "=== LoadsPlanets_Patch Prefix ===" in the "output_log.txt" file in this folder.

It's not supported, it's on Github so someone can fork it if they want.

not sure if this is supported anymore but does not seem to work. Upon loading the save the game crashes if you open the starmap. :steamsad:

The planet balancer makes use of this mod and thankfully still works, but it's nice to have the manual option too.

It's possible but I don't know when I'd get time. The project in on Github is anyone else want's to fork it.

Hi, would it be possible to update this mod so that it is usable in the current version of vanilla?
Pope Snowball  [author] 19 Dec, 2021 @ 9:27am
I'm not aware of any alternatives, but if I ever get time I'll look at creating a Spaced Out version.

Rly would love to see that mod for Spaced Out! :( i would like to add a big endgame asteroid on the edge of the starmap as an endgame location for a huge perfect base. Any alternatives to it for spaced out?

Once the planets are added you can disable the mod, but it'll only add a small bit of load on startup if you have no planets configured in the config.txt anyway.

Fixed! Thx!
Oh and, what if I disable this mod after adding planets to my save files? I feel more comfortable with less mods enabled...
