Bane of Fogmen, Friend of Mongrel

Description
Deep in the Fog Islands the free folk of Mongrel fight for survival against the hordes of Fogmen. Will you save them before all is lost to the fog?

Call me crazy, but I LOVE the Fog Islands. The atmosphere, the strategic plateus between dark and mysterious craters of mist, the never-ending shrieks of 'WREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE' in the night. However, I found myself disappointed by the lack of interaction with the city of Mongrel itself (aside from some notable recruits) and the difficulty in becoming allied with the Mongrel faction. The constant chaotic swarms of naked flesh-eaters also becomes tedious with no way to stem the tide as you can with the Cannibal factions.

This small mod adds a quest to hunt a particularly dangerous Fog Prince at the request of Mongrel's leader, Arc. Turning in this bounty not only gives a significan boost to Mongrel relations but also decreases the number of Fogmen spawns, thereby making the Fog Islands a little bit safer for its inhabitants. I did my best to keep it as lore friendly as possible and to not make the Fog Islands a paradise, but simply less tedious.

NOTE: This does not, by any means, remove the Fogmen entirely and they will still capture nearby ruins during certain World States. Furthermore, their nests will still prove a challenge after the quest is completed until they are cleared out (nests may respawn but will contain less Fogmen).

This mod should be compatable with any mod that does not alter Arc or the World State of Mongrel!

I really like the fact that new squads start to travel through the area, it makes it feel like I helped the world overall, not just myself.

Mongrel soldiers will patrol outside the city, because they need less manpower to guard the walls.
Hive Caravans will travel to and from the city, because it’s safe enough for Mongrel to receive trade from the outside world.
Holy Nation soldiers will wander around, because the fogmen threat is weak enough for them to think about conquering Mongrel (though since they’re hostile to literally every other group there they always get beat up lol).

This mod is great, in my playthrough I started in rebirth and escaped to mongrel with a few other slaves, and over time I built up an army of slaves I freed from rebirth and holy nation outlaws I saved from Fogmen. I didn't build a base, they just lived and made equipment in the purchased houses in Mongrel. Being strong enough to kill the Fog King was a cool goal to work towards and finally doing it with an army of people who had been prey for the Fogmen in the past (including Shryke) was really satisfying.

I’m curious how much you reduced the fogmen squads by and what specifically you changed, I still see them around but they’re so small they sometimes even lose to the holy nation outlaws lol. The same number of nests spawn but they’re usually completely empty unless someone's being eaten.

it seem than making the fog king dying by ebing eaten by his own soldier make the qest not being completed....... one of the rare time i regret being a rimworld player..... guess i been making a tad too much war crime

I wish there was a mod were you are a fogman, and bane of mongrel instead lol

Would be cool if there was an option not to reduce fogmen spawns, since I find them quite useful for training reasons (and also it's just fun to watch them crumble) but otherwise seems good

Re-added the Throne of the Fog King and it appears to be working fine again on my end.

Should still be compatible with most mods.

Hey all, thank you for taking an interest in my mod!
I obviously haven't been playing Kenshi for some time but I will do my best to take a look at it this weekend and repair it, if possible.
