No problem! Let me know if you need more definite locations as two of them really are out of the way - I've missed at least one myself on several occasions.
Without knowing exactly which sections of the mod you've traversed, I can't offer specific advice, but I can tell you there are four such certificates and you need them all (three are in the Gem Mines and the last one is Goldhaven).
You don't have to play a farmer, but it will mean sacrificing a couple of those precious gold keys early game to grant you the skills he or she gets from the start. Incidentally, I was also critical of Adrageron's mods initially, but I'm very happy to report that I was dead wrong and glad I persevered with this one especially. For sure, I've since become an avid supporter of his work because of it.
There is actually a spear hidden in the very first pool to the left of the base exit. Use a poison bomb to get rid of the Zarchton, then chuck a couple of lightning bombs at the wall to clear the weeds there in order to get to it.
However, I already spent my golden keys on mining and cooking. All the places I need to go next seem to be blocked by water and seaweed. Oh well. Was worth a try.
Only just noticed your posts and thought I'd add that you can mitigate that particular section of the pyramid by having items or armour that prevent paralysis. Also, be sure to block the path behind you with Force Field while you deal with each spawner in turn. It's tough for sure, but certainly manageable.
