Description
This mod makes the bolt casters be classified as a unique weapon, not a variant of the rifle.

You know that Boltcaster is not an absolute rifle. This weapon is a unique weapon specially created by Dr Moira Vahlen. - So, despite this uniqueness, this weapon will be inferior to most Chosen weapons in the second half of the game.
This mode restructures the weapon category of the bolt caster, while at the same time giving them a very deadly trait - guaranteed Dot damage regardless of special ammunition. With this mod you will be able to seamlessly implement a Class mod that only allows bolt casters.

Advantages:
● Damage through the boltcasters Guaranteed bleeding
● Can use 'Bolt Charge'- Guaranteed hit Charge an enemy with your Boltcaster's Arrow.(Cooldown: 4)

Penalty:
● Boltcastors are no longer in the Rifle Weapon category.
So is not affected by Breakthrough, which increases the damage of the rifle..
● A class that uses a rifle can no longer use a Boltcastor. Although most of the existing classes have been adjusted to use bolt casters, some of your mods may not be.
If you want to solve this problem -add the following entry to the corresponding class entry in your XComClassData.

+AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="boltcaster")

Additional planned issues:
● Add a Compound crossbow weapon for the Boltcaster only available class.
The compound crossbow does not have a high-tier weapon, but offers 4 weapon upgrade slots.

Hi could you please explain how to to this with other weapons? Ive been trying to make SMG its own category so that classes can use them without being able to use rifles and havent been able to find any information about this. Cheers :)

First of all, I apologize for the delay in work due to the Highlander issue, and I have sad news for those who have been waiting for the mod. Sadly my computer was attacked by ransomware a few days ago. Because of this, many of the mod materials I was working on were lost.

Currently, my main work computer has been serviced by a mechanic. I'm just hoping they can recover as much material as possible, and I'm looking for a backup copy of my XCOM mod. Sorry to keep you guys waiting.

PS: Coincidentally, I first found the CIV 6 mod file that had been neglected for about 3 years. I will serve in another Firaxis game for a while until the data is restored or I get a call from the mechanic.

"Bolt Charge" doesn't have an icon and just shows the glitched "img:" icon instead

Hey man, quick question - You've made this mod and the Crossbow mod, do you have plans for a Boltcaster based class?

Interesting concept. I still find Boltcasters to be useful mid-to-late game, due to mods such as Grimy Loot and Mod Everything, allowing for modified versions, and other mods that allow for building more than one Hunter Weapon.

Even in vanilla/less-modded games, Boltcaster Specialists with Bluescreen Ammo and the high Stun chance of the base BC makes enemy MEC and Sectopods cry.

because this weapon is just one shot, and then reload again weapon-- its so useless mid-to-late game where you cant one shot an enemy. i think its also my least wanted weapon from the alien hunter weapons...maybe this mod will fix this and make the boltcaster become a bit useful. thanks for the readjust.
