Republic Titles Renamed

Beskrivelse
****IRONMAN COMPATIBLE****

This mod replaces the default titles for Republican Counties, Republican Duchies, Republican Kingdoms, and Republican Empires, and includes localization for German, French, and Spanish. It works for both Merchant Republics as well as regular Republics. I made this mod because I found the default titles to be very bland and generic; it's all "grand" this and "mayor" that, and I feel that it really takes the glamour out of expanding your Republic (and can also make handing out titles a bit confusing).

With this mod:

-Republican Counts will now be known as "Sheriff" rather than "Lord Mayor"
-Republican Dukes will now be known as "Governor" rather than "Grand Mayor"
-Republican Kings will now be known as "Premier" rather than "Prince Mayor"
-Republican Emperors will now be known as "Consul" rather than "Grand Prince"

The title name for some of these Republics have also been changed.

-Republican Counties will now be known as a "Metropolis" rather than a "Grand City"
-Republican Kingdoms will now be known as a "Federation" rather than a "Most Serene Republic"
-Republican Empires will now be known as a "United States" rather than a "Principality"

All Latin cultural titles will also adhere to the above changes, except for the Italian culture specifically, which will continue to use titles such as "Doge" and "Serene Republic".

All other cultural/religious titles will still supercede the above, as per vanilla (e.g. if you're a Muslim King Republic, you'll still be known as "Wali-Malik".)

-----------------------------------------

If you'd rather have the Emperor-tier title be "Principal" instead of "Consul", use the alternate version of this mod found here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2051268351

The Holy Fury DLC already adds special Republican titles for Roman culture. Off the top of my head, Emperors are Princeps, Kings are Consuls and Dukes are Tribunes.

I think the Roman culture should get as much similarities with the roman republic you can get, just for larping. Their leader should always be the consul, vassal doges should be proconsuls etc.

Even when empire the Roman Republic should be known as the Roman Republic etc.

But only if your culture is actually Roman.

we also didn't call it "Union of Rome", it was just Roman Republic.

I feel like Governor implies vassalage where there isn't one. Also, my suggestion is that the title names are something like...

"Union of" instead of Consulate of,
"Federation of" or "League of" instead of Premiership of,
And just keep "Grand Republic" for Duke-level.

We don't call Venice "The Dogeship of Venice" or Rome "The Consulate of Rome", after all.

Thanks for the research and effort. Agree with how Consul sounds. I think Premier is a decent choice. Definitely better than President. I'll probably just modify the mod for myself to change Premier to Legate, but definitely keep it up.

I did some more research into the "consul" title. looks like it had a rather wide variety of uses, even applying to mere dukes in some cases. That said, I'm happy leaving consul as the emperor tier title here because A- there's a decent enough historical precedent with the Roman Republic and French Republic and B- I just think consul sounds fucking cool; however, I did go ahead and change the "President" title to a more neutral "Premier", so hopefully that should satisfy your historical immersion enough.

Yea, I guess it doesn't help that the Italian Republics were the majority of republics, and they imitated the Roman Republic more often than not.

I'm not necessarily trying to replicate Roman titles here, just have something more flavorful than "Mayor" "Lord Mayor" "Prince Mayor" "Grand Prince"

Yea, right now I have a mega Roman world conquest with 40 King-tier vassals. I'd like to use this mod for more immersion, but the idea of having Presidents seems a bit off. Technically, the 'Doge' of Genoa held the title Consul, like you pointed out, and he certainly was not an empire-level ruler. I think maybe Consul could be for the King-tier and... well Princeps Senatus or Senate Prince would be technically accurate, but maybe just Prince? Not exactly sure.

Roman Provinces were lead by either ProConsuls (governors elected by the Senate) or Legatus Agustus Pro Imperatore (appointed directly by the Emperor).

Maybe the Emperor's titles could literally be Augustus (prenomen) Imperator (post-cognomen).
