Description
In a desperate bid to save the colony of Roanoke you must push through the infested mountains quickly to reach the city. But infected dwellings litter the region, and if nothing is done they could also spell doom for the colony upon your arrival.

---
Around Every Corner is a short, Point-to-Point map based around the efficient use of your army. You will need to weigh the value of clearing its various VoDS against the cost in time that requires. Your performance here will adjust the difficulty of the next map in the series. Every VoD you leave behind will come back to bite you, but every day spent eliminating that danger is another you won't have to prepare your defenses.

This is the third map, of the first chapter of the Wings of the Phoenix campaign.
Chapter 1, "Fanning Flames" includes...
Map 1 - "From the Ashes"
Map 2 - "Molding Merit"
Map 3 - "Around Every Corner"
Map 4 - "The Roanoke Rout"
Map 5 - "Bridges, Nowhere"

Which can be found in one of two places:
The Wings of the Phoenix collection, which includes every map in the campaign including variants, available below:
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1626503635

As well as The Wings of the Phoenix chapter 1 collection, which includes only the 5 maps in chapter 1 (no variants), available below:

The Roanoke Rout has been released. Hopefully, -hopefully- it will have been worth the extended wait... and will not be riddled with bugs somehow.

My initial plan was to have it released before the 10th, but I underestimated the amount of scripting required for all the variables in play. New mark is the 20th or sooner, and it seems I'm on track for having it released in that time frame. I have all the writing done, and the scripting mapped out. Now I just need to finish the scripting and do play testing and The Roanoke Rout should be ready for release.

The final map of the chapter is less script intensive than TRR, so Bridges Nowhere should follow TRR faster than TRR followed up AEC.

Can't wait for the next map, first ran was rough only killed 2 towns and rescued the other guys, by day 6. My best so far is killing 4 towns, rescuing the guys and finishing day 4. Not sure how good that is but that did require some pretty heavy micro. The Thanatos were a nightmare to use, needed to micro almost every shot.

Good to know :)
Good luck on your guide it's always nice to see new guides added. Speaking of which I really need to finish mine, it's still marked WIP ahah

I'll try not to keep you waiting too long.

Once the end of this chapter hits I'll probably take a break from map making for a bit. So I can work on the Guide I have planned. Then I'll play through the whole chapter back-to-back to get a feel for how it plays so far, and then begin work on chapter 2. I already chapter 2 mapped out, and a solid idea of where I want the campaign to go. So hopefully chapter 2 take less time to develop than the first chapter (after correcting for the large gap after From the Ashes' initial release).

Erf I didn't write those down... I'll play both maps one after the other when you'll release the map 4 :)

That functionality doesn't currently exist within the editor, which is why the end message tells you the numbers / variables you'll be asked for. The next map will start you with a configuration screen that you will input your results into. If you've played or seen the final map of 28 years later, it'll be a bit like that. But a much shorter menu.

But you can carry those variables over from one map to the other??? What if I've played the map more than once?

Each of the variables marked at the end of this map will alter the next in some way. For example, the speed of your journey here will determine how bad the immediate situation is when you arrive at Roanoke. With quick clear times giving you extra time to get your barrings before the first horde hits, and later times (you can go as many as 4 days over the 'Horde is Approaching' timer without losing) causing some parts of the city to start off infected (simulating the first horde having already hit before you arrived). An especially quick clear time will probably gain a unique bonus as well, to make up for sacrificing the other objectives for expediency.

I will say that the extremes on this map (clearing none of the dwellings, going well over the first timer) stand to make the next map significantly harder. The variables act as a kind of dynamic difficulty in that regard. There will also be quick-start options if one doesn't want to manually configure the map
