How To Earn Money
SHIPPING/SELLING ITEMS

Shipping bin

The Shipping Bin can be handcrafted in your early gameplay. Each player can have up to 3 shipping bins. Once placed, you can later upgrade it to level 2 and then 3, if you wish to have extra available slots to hold more items at a time.

The process of shipping and receiving, or selling and buying items through a shipping bin only takes a little more than just a minute to complete.

Which items can be sold?

Several items can be sold through the shipping bin, but there are also certain kinds of items that are not sellable. You are free to sell several kinds of items, but double check which ones are worth selling.

Hover your mouse over an item you got in your inventory, so you'll find out if you can sell it or not. The item properties window should be show the item value, if it's a sellable item. If the item properties window does not show its value, it's because you cannot sell it.

However, you should not be selling everything you can just because your items have a certain value. Some things are needed to unlock or craft a variety of things, and, just in case those things are rare, make sure to think well before you ship them.

Profitable items to sell/ship for easy money

Take note of the fact that if you're planning to sell items that spoil with the time, you should sell them as fast as you can, since they'll start losing their original/starting value with the time (flowers and foods will lose quality over time).

Flowers/Plants:
These can be found in several areas through the map, and you can easily gather them through your journey. A stack of 25 flowers can be quite profitable.

The most common flower that you should be picking up and sell later is the Red Poppy. Red poppies can be found frequently in many kinds of biomes of the map. You should really be picking up those since after the first times you spawn in a server map. Apart of being used to craft blowgun darts, these are definitely an easy way of starting earning money.

Tobacco leaves are also common, not as common as poppies, but you can still find these in several areas of the map, they also worth some money. Make sure to sell these on stacks of 50-100 to make it worth, just in case you're not needing them for crafting or consumption.

Roses can be found in some biomes, look for them in areas with plenty vegetation, such forests. They're not as common as poppies, but they're still common, I've found roses quite often at Southwest of the map, for example. You can find 4 variants of rose bushes.

You'll also be finding other different kinds of flowers through the place, some a little cheaper than these ones though, others may have a similar price. But the rose is one of the most valuable flowers. Picking up Larkspur and Bee Plants is also a good option, though they aren't as common as the flowers/plants mentioned above.

Mined Resources:

A bigger amount of money can be earned through precious or other special kinds of stones.
There is a big amount of different stones you can obtain in Heat. These are just a few of them:

There are 3 ways of getting these kinds of stones:

Geodes - This is a matter of having some luck and keep mining rocks for a chance of earning good money with these. There are different kinds of geodes, and every of them will be dropping from a rock node rarely and randomly, while mining. You can also one time or another obtain geodes from chopping down wood or tilling the soil and such.

If you keep harvesting resources through mining, you'll have bigger chances of having some geodes dropping for you. Piles of scrap metal also have the chance of dropping geodes. They aren't a common find but, if you find any, gather the resources from them. You can also win these by purchasing the Golden Ticket Scratcher scratchcard (through the newspaper).

You should use a campfire, that can be level 1, 2 or 3 to crack these geodes. Just put them in the fire for a few seconds, and you'll hear a small explosion. The geodes will crack and drop to the ground a random special stone. You will be getting one random special stone per geode. Pyrite, coral, silver, rubies are some of the nice things you can get from these. Every of them have their own value, and, if you get lucky enough, you can get a diamond, that costs about $300! This is definitely a huge help in advancing in your gameplay.

Gemstone/Quality Gemstone and Nugget nodes - Both rock nodes drop one special stone and common stones as well, though they spawn rarely and in random biomes (look for hot or cold environments), not as much as Sulfur nodes, for example. Make sure to always mine one of these any time you find any. Look for these specially in biomes not far from the map limits. Gemstone nodes have nice shades of blue, cyan and purple, while Nugget nodes have a mix of golden, copper and silver colors.

How To Earn Money (Part 2)
Saltpeter - I've found out by my own that Saltpeter may be a good choice to earn money at times. You'll get a small amount of this resource randomly while mining rocks, and a big amount if you mine a saltpeter node or an iron and saltpeter node. You should be using this resource later to unlock or craft a couple of things, though, while not using it and accumulating stacks in your container, you can always easily sell a stack of 100 for about $60. One unit only costs about $0.60 (why selling stacks instead).

Ores - Certain minable resources like Saltpeter worth selling in stacks of 50 or 100. Though, make sure you're settled at an area where certain kinds of rocks like ore nodes spawn at/close at! Resources like Iron Ore do not spawn everywhere frequently or in big amounts, and you'll need these for a lot of things during your gameplay, so think twice if you plan selling these. If you live, for example, down Southwest of the map, there's a desert biome in there where ore nodes are a common spawn, so start selling stacks of ores if you got plenty. But if you have other options for making money, try avoiding selling ores at times.

Animal Loot

Another way of making money is by selling animal loot.

Meat - Mostly animals drop a good amount of meat and giblets.
If you sell Cooked Giblets and Cooked Meat in a certain amount, you'll get some money. Beware of the fact that if they start to spoil or are just raw, they will cost less money, but specially when they start spoiling. 1 piece of Raw Meat costs about $2, while 1 piece of Cooked Meat, $2.08. A stack of 100 Raw Giblets (with the total value of $2) will turn into 1 Cooked Giblet ($2.07 each) once placed in the fire. The difference between the raw and cooked versions is small, though it is still worth selling these cooked. Try selling them as fast as possible, as they'll lose quality and value over time.

Animal skins may not be worth selling though, as they may be cheap, depending of the animal they belonged to. Also, just in case you want to use the skins to unlock or craft anything from the catalog (check the tech tree under the tab with the backpack icon), simply don't sell them. Bones and sinew are also useful to unlock and craft recipes and aren't worth selling either.

GAMBLING

Lotto

You can buy tickets to have the chance of winning the current pot at the lottery. The more tickets you buy, the bigger the chances you'll have of winning the pot at the next draw. This is purely luck and a hard form of winning money, since you can also lose more money than what you'll win, if you will. Purchase tickets through the News/Newspaper section.

Golden Ticket Scratcher

You can buy the Golden Ticket Scratcher scratchcard for $5 through the newspaper, for a chance of earning a precious stone, ores or ingots, though this is the less profitable way of obtaining them to sell later.

BECOMING THE SHERIFF

A different way of earning a certain amount of money (or even saving some due to the lower taxes payment) is through becoming an important person in the server, or a player with a power position, mainly, becoming the Sheriff of the server you're playing at. For that, you must travel to Tombstone Town and take the sheriff's place to become the sheriff yourself.

From time to time, you'll be awarded with your payment for having that role, just open your sheriff's safe and collect the money.

The amount of money you'll get depends of the decision of the current president, who can choose how much money you, as a sheriff, can earn. The amount varies between 5 and 25$ dollars.

Where/How To Spend Your Money
To be able to spend in the different things below, your money must be in your inventory (you must have cash on hand to perform the actions; having it in a container won't work).

PROPERTY TAX

One of the things, and probably the most important you need to spend your money at is in your claimed land. Once you own a property and have a Land Claim Flag, you should be recharging it with money in order to pay for your owned land property and its taxes, to prevent building decay and property loss/unclaiming. Make sure to have enough money in your land claiming flags, so you can own your piece of land for a longer time.

The property taxes may vary. The president is able to increase or decrease the property taxes for the civilians playing on the server at any time. Just in case you are in a power position (if you're the server Chief, Sheriff, Governor or President, you'll be paying lower taxes.

CATALOG

Another way you can spend your money is by using the Shipping Bin Catalog, just browse through the different catalog sections and you see the available amounts of different goods you can buy with money.

Be aware of the fact that some of these things can be very expensive for the amount you get, and may not be worth buying, even if it takes a while to get them through normal ways. Though, one of the things that may be worth for you to buy is, for example, Clay. An unit of Clay is quite cheap, which means you can easily order, for example, about 800 units of clay for around $31. Make sure to check the weight limit of your order before trying to buy heavy items in certain amounts.

Baby Adoption

Just in case you want to have a baby in your family, but don't want or simply can't have your own baby, you can also adopt one through the catalog, by buying the Baby Basket.

RESEARCH

Something you really must do in order to progress, is to spend money to research/unlock certain things from the Catalogue tech trees. Some require you to spend a certain amount of money, including owning certain resources to be unlocked. So save as much as you need for these things.

At the News section/gazette/newspaper, there are a couple of things you can spend your money on. If you want to publish an ad, head over to the Classifieds section and pay $5 to post one, so anyone in the server can see it.

GAMBLING

Feeling lucky? You can try winning the lottery by purchasing tickets to apply for the next draw, or even buying some scratch cards for a chance of earning more money, food or even precious stones, ores or ingots. You don't need any skills, all you need is money and luck! Currently, 3 kinds of scratchcards are available, and the prices vary from 1 to 10 dollars each.

Last but not least, you should be able to make some good deals with other players. If you can trust them enough to make some trades with them, of course!

Thanks for the tips Miray! This is an old guide, so it looks like trading things on the cities was something that was implemented after I've done this, good to have this extra info in here, cheers.

Trade goods between cities also, I recommend doing it with a mount. you buy 1 "merchant good" for $10- 100 Lb and sell to another city for $50. I recommend 1 mount with high carry capacity. Also follow to the road don't do short cuts through forests etc.

Oh that, sorry! Well, honestly, it's been a good time since last time I've played the game, so I barely remember how I would level up fast to gain skills to increase my max. health, though, if my memory doesn't fail, I think killing anyone else (kill animals if you don't find someone else to kill) may help with it, and just keep mining and stuff. I may be confusing these actions with another game, Outlaws of the Old West though. I really need to get back some time soon to this game to remind myself of stuff and hopefully making more guides. I apologize about this, it's been a while :SSblush:

i no that ..im talkin bout how to do it fast
wild jester  [author] 24 Sep, 2020 @ 10:55am
@daneilspot2000
No worries :)
Once you level up, you'll get some skill points to spend. There's a "+" button for each thing on your character's Attributes section (under the Physical tab at the character's interface window), click on the "+" button that is at the right side of the "Health 100/100" to increase its max capacity, if this was what you were asking for.

@FA-[3rdUS.B]PVT.bangermsuk I haven't tried it, though I've heard that you must loot the player's corpse, he should have a finger that you should put then on the shipping bin and sell it to get your money, I hope it's working properly now.
banger705 26 Nov, 2019 @ 6:31pm
abd what about bounty, how do you claim that
wild jester  [author] 7 Mar, 2019 @ 2:31pm
Indeed. Oh I've been selling mostly oil shale and saltpeter as well. I've settled my base down south around a swamp, plenty oil in there. Very profitable specially if shipping taxes are low :)
But I can also give a try selling stone slabs - ty again! I've been only spending them on reinforcing my ramparts lol
snafu 7 Mar, 2019 @ 1:35pm
No problem, Though Codehatch seem pretty bent on nerfing every way to make money, if i ever need money i go out and hit as many nodes as i can till my pick breaks, turn all the stone into slabs then store all the rest, if you really need the money you can also sell the Oil Shale & Lead since i find those pretty useless imo.

Other than that, early game picking of flowers and plants is really good, just wish Guns and Melee weapons were worth alot because its dumb that a bolt action rifle sells for $20
