To be succesful in Versus, you need to cast spells quickly. The higher the FPS, the better. If needed sacrifice some graphics and resolutions to gain higher FPS. Play on servers with low pings and know your opponents. Learn to counter certain playstyles and robes and be nimble and think fast in general.

If you cannot stay alive you cannot kill, therefore defense is a huge part of the Versus gamemode.
We will start with a couple robes and a weapon type and move on to spell neutralizing.

Guns:
Rock shield used in any way will defend you against guns for a good time.

Cyber Robe:
Just add water. Use EAAAA on self and get him in the aura so he cannot heal.

Fire Robe:
If your opponent puts himself on fire, put him out. Use EFFFF aura on self so he cannot heal from fire.

Tank Robe:
Do not try to melee without enchants, it is not worth it. Keep your distance and use Frost to slow him down even more than he is now.

Necro Robe:
Arcane heals, Life damages. Switch out the Ws in your spells with S.

Those are few examples, i will leave the rest of those for you to figure out. Spells:

EQRASA / QFQFASA: The perfect counter to these and many other spells is the EASR aura on self, makes you totally immune to them both. R can be switched with F if you need Fire protection instead of cold. E Shields will reflect beams and make a good counter.

QWER AoE: Healing, summons a bunch of healing crystals around you. Be wary, it heals others too. ( QSER for necro robes )

DDDDD: Armor, full rock shields on the ground and regular E shields will do well. Try to dodge them.

Beams in General: If your opponent uses a beam, use a counter element such as a Life beam against QFQFASA, point your beam right at where your enemy's beam comes out and he will be blasted away. Regular E shields reflect beams and can make them explode on their owner.

Now that you can stay alive, it is time for murder.

QFQFASA / EQRASA: Perfect for underskilled opponents, easily avoided by smart shields.

RQRQRQRQRQ ( 5 Ice) + Enchant: One shot kill ice sword, very useful.

Arcane AoE Spam: You can spam Arcane on its own or with something else, it really works out well.

DDDDD: Classic, simple and most barbaric. Gib your opponents easily with a long ranged snipe or a mere tap at close range.

SQQQQ AoE: Tactical spell, knock people into walls and/or just get them away from you. Massive knockback.

DRQRQRQRQ: Ice ball, VERY damaging but harder to control than a normal rock with the added fact that it is very situational. If target has cold resistance/absorption, this will do NOTHING.

FQFQFQAA: Shocking steam, very damaging and ministuns the targets as well as wet them.

FQFQASA AoE: Powerful spell, one-shots people in a small radius.

One last tip: You can BLOCK lightning ( and melee attacks ) with CTRL. When you block lightning it will be absorbed in your melee weapon and act just as if you enchanted it.
