The Captains Rebalance Mod

Description
Rebalance of many things in the game. Optimized for 256*256 medium industry and towns.

Version 1.1.1 - tested with version Feb 21 2019.

Goals
-----
* Resource output and use must match.
* Fewer trains on map, so trains can share tracks better.
* Coal and Diesel trains are viable.
* Have a use for those money tokens.
* Overall better balance.

Era status
----------
* Early Steam - done.
* Late Steam - done.
* Early Diesel - temporary prices.
* Late Diesel - temporary prices.

Changes
-------
* All trains have been rebalanced, and some have been moved. No trains are wildy over or under powered anymore.
* All wagons have been rebalanced. Wagons now carry enough goods to take care of industries without blocking the track for other trains. Later wagons require fewer trains.
* All industries have been rebalanced, so they make sense. On recommended setting, the input and output match. Upgrades to industries become available through time.
* Spawnrate of towns and industries have been rebalanced. Industries now spawn in two eras, making it more challeging to connect them all, and to connect the first output. Towns spawn later.
* Building materials are used for buildings. Timber and Iron tokens are used for single time cost only. Both of them have been rebalanced to allow everything to be bought.
* Transportation tokens are used only for trains. It is now possible to actually use the better trains, ie. you can run 20 coal trains at the end of Early steam.
* Station upgrades have been modified a bit, mostly by splitting or reducing effects.
* The weight of most resources have been changed.
* When a new industry in introduced, the best train from that era should be able to move 20 ticks from that industry, in the next era the best train should be able to move 25 ticks, and the next after that should be able to move 35 ticks.

Things that do not work right now
---------------------------------
* It is not possible to mod station upgrades, so I have renamed the old ones N/A, andd added new ones. Do not buy the old ones ;-)
* Only English language has been modded.
* The Elishka and quest trains cannot be modded at the moment.
* More depot upgrades to follow.
* Diesel trains, wagons and upgrades have not been balanced with price, only capacity.
* Some new wagons reuse art because I am not a designer. Any help appreciated.
* I had to reuse the art for Red Dwarf too, because I wanted one more coal trains. Any help appreciated.
* Some industries will have more upgrades, and I could use some help with naming and art.
* The station already has a new upgrade, and I could use some help with naming and art.

Meta rules
----------
The mod has been optimized for these rules.
* Hard setting.
* Only one locomotive per train. All trains and wagons have been balanced for this.
* Trains have to fit 100% in stations. All trains and wagons have been optimized for this.
* Everything must be connected ;-)
* Nothing can go to waste.
* Manually go to next age before 10 years run out.

Because other mods are not balanced the same way, they might be over or under powered for this mod.

Despite the occasional issues the mod has (like the steel tokens thing), I still really enjoy the balance changes this mod does and would recommend it to players wanting more sensible train stats.

I had issue, where I need Steel tokens to buy wagon, which are needed to create Steel token.
I made a quickfix.
Download mode it to local and set following wagon in wagon_types.xml as follows:

I have stopped playing this game, but might come back to it. What I really need to get the interest back is for someone to help me with graphics for trains wagons etc.

Cool mod. Do you plan to keep this mod updated? Vanila balance is meh.

Hi, Allen, BIG thanks for your MOD. It a good idea and it works fine. Played it until half era IV. And sure come back to it. Hope you pick it up one day to finish it and that Jan give you the time to do it.

Hello @Allan Kirk, please solve the 4th era wagons since we have several reports on broken game due to this mod. Missing wagons etc. 4th era it out for half a year. I am sorry to say (since I deeply appreciate everyones work and time spended doing mods for Mashinky), but since it lowers our rating and cause some players to uninstall the game, If we will receive more reports, I will be forced to make this mod hidden until solved. Thanks for understanding.
