Description
Jump map for pyro, intended to teach detonator jumping for proficiency in normal gameplay, and provide a challenge for those looking for more.

  • jumps based on a more grounded geometry
  • hint nodes for introducing the concepts of detonator jumping
  • 5 courses of increasing difficulty
  • -A: simple beginner course
  • -B: horizontal jumps & strafing
  • -C: vertical jumps & precision
  • -D: restricted height jumps & ramps
  • -E: mixed
  • various jumps based on jumps in official maps

Try to find the bonus jump in each course for additional difficulty!

Note: if you have an FPS config, it may disable overlays - the map makes heavy use of them to aid navigation, so use r_renderoverlayfragment 1 if you have them disabled!

In B3 you jump in, wait a moment (until you at the peak of your jump) then you look down, turn right and self-det. Make sure you turn right relative to the direction you wanna go (it applies to most self-det jumps too)

For B4-5, two important things are timing and strafing.
Timing - to jump far you need to crouch + jump + shoot (hold m2) at the same time.
Once you get it right and practice it, you'll build muscle memory and get more consistent with it.

Strafing - right after you det-jump, quickly look at the direction you're moving and start strafing.
you strafe with 'a' or 'd' to your desired location. (move your mouse in sync with the keys, turn left when holding 'a', turn right when holding 'd').
strafing correctly helps you keep your air momentum so you go further.
(holding 'w' while in the air ruins your ability to turn and ruins your speed)

I'm really struggling on B5, B3-4 felt like I just lucked through after trying for half an hour, but I can't seem to get both enough height and distance to make the jump while also having to turn to land on the pipes.

Why does my detonator have less power??? I have to CROUCH to get the the edge of the jump to get to B-1

To see help signs, make sure map decals are turned on by typing "r_renderoverlayfragment 1" in console.
To use the help sign, stand at the beginning of the jump and look at it, this will show you a short tip.
List of jumps with a help sign: A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7, B2, B3 and D2.
