[HIATUS] Multiple TPD Chassis+Axle Options

In 1 collection by Sanguinem Luna
SCS Owned Trailer Combo Mod Collection
7 items
Description
ATTENTION:
Both of my TPD mods are officially being put on hiatus. They are NOT abandoned. I just do not know when I'll have the drive/energy to update them. Please check the comments for an explanation I posted on March 17, 2023. Thank you for understanding.

Introduction & Description
This mod adds every possible Chassis combo into the Trailer Shop under the "Chassis" section for Turnpike Doubles, as well as unlocking the state restriction, so you can take them anywhere in Singleplayer/Convoy. In Vanilla ATS, the Turnpike Doubles usually only have one or two options for Chassis combos. With this mod, every possible combo is added.

Please note that the only officially supported long trailers with a "hook" for a dolly, at this point in time, are the 45' (Box, Flatbed, & Bottom Dumper), 43' (Food Tank & Fuel Tank), 42' (Dry Bulk) 40' (Gooseneck, Grainhopper, & Bottom Dumper), & 36' (Dumper) trailers. There is a 48' "hook" chassis in the game that was abandoned by SCS mid-development, & I have made it usable, but it is unfortunately only for the Box trailers. There is no 53' "hook" trailer currently in the game & I have zero experience/interest in learning 3D model editing to make one.

Removed State Restrictions From Turnpike Doubles (Singleplayer/Convoy Only)

Sidenote
Once SCS Software updates & adds more trailers as ownable trailers, depending on if whether or not those trailers have the appropriate chassis, length, & axle options, I'll update the mod with more combinations. It's all waiting on SCS as I don't really experiment with attempting to make non-ownable chassis' work.

Known Bugs & Issues
The bumper options for the dolly on the Chip Van TPDs are broken. I have no idea how, or why, it's broken. If anyone can figure out how to fix it, please let me know.

On the Chip Van 48+48 3 combo, there are no sideskirt options available. I cannot do anything about this, to my knowledge, without editing the chassis model itself. The other three combos have sideskirt options as they are utilizing the SCS Box chassis' instead of the Chip Van variants of the chassis'.

If you know how to fix any of these bugs, please tell me in the comments, & I will get a fix out ASAP.

TruckersMP Compatibility & General Use Warnings
If you take these trailers into TMP, you will be limited to Nevada, Utah, Colorado, & Montana, since these are Chassis+Axle options for the Turnpike Double chain-type & TMP disables active mods upon loading your profile in MP. But, I've made a version of the mod that is compatible with TMP. You can find that version here (→Click me←)

When taking any combination longer than 45+45, be careful when rescuing, loading, & unloading. Anything longer may clip through objects, walls, fences, etc in Service Stations, Company Pick-up & Drop-off points, causing you to potentially go flying or cause damage to your truck, trailer, & cargo. I'm unsure if 40+53 Gooseneck combos have the same issue.

Be warned that the 48+xx combos are NOT compatible with TMP. Attempting to bring any 48+xx combo into TMP will result in the trailer flipping out. This includes the Chip Van TPDs as their TPD chain-type was created entirely from scratch by me.

Convoy Mode Compatibility & Warnings
This mod is compatible with Convoy mode. Simply enable the mod like any other & enjoy! However, the second paragraph of the above TruckersMP Compatibility & General Use Warnings section still applies for Convoy mode. So please read it & keep it in mind.

This mod is tagged as MP Optional which means if you create a server with this mod, your friends & other players will not need the mod to join. WARNING: I have NOT tested this, at all, with the new Optional Mod feature. I have no idea what will happen to the combos from this mod on other players screens if this mod is used in a server optionally & they opted not to install it when joining. Any feedback/information on this is highly welcomed & appreciated.

Looking for even more options?
Check out this mod! Expanded Trailer Combinations. Gdog900 has taken to the task of learning 3D/model editing tools to make new custom "hook" chassis, axle & length options. Something I can't provide, but many have asked for. Their mod is NOT TruckersMP compatible. But this should be obvious, given it's using custom assets. So please don't bug them with that question. It is, however, compatible with Convoy mode.
NOTE: You MUST load the above linked mod higher than my mod, otherwise there will be a conflict between the two mods involving rear bumpers missing on trailers in the shop.

It certainly is a challenge, but an oh so fun one. Unfortunately, I no longer update this mod, so I would instead direct you to Expanded Trailer Combinations and the add-on mod for it, No State Restrictions . There are vastly more combinations in that mod, many of which I can't do since I don't mess with models, and even more challenge with 2x 53' combos with tri-axle dollys. ;)

Do note however, that the linked mod is slightly broken with 1.53. The 'Sliding Tandems' feature messes with a couple chassis in that mod, but only the sliding, front, and rear tandem chassis. It works fine otherwise. The author has said they'll look into it when they have time.

When I saw this mod, I was asking myself if I was really ready to test my skills with long double trailers, and when I said yes and give it a shot, let me tell you, turnpike doubles are definitely for skilled drivers. I've actually done this before, but I didn't download this mod. Now that I have, I might do this more

Hey all, with the Ownable Gas Cisterns coming in 1.47, I wanted to get a little ahead of that and answer the inevitable questions coming my way. I've opted into the 1.47 Open Beta and so far it appears there are only the Single and B-Double chain type. I did not test if SCS did the same thing as they did with the Fueltankers and added a "hook" to the trailer cables hookup.

Additionally, I am officially placing both of my TPD mods on hiatus. There's a lot going on in my life right now that's draining a lot of energy from me and I just simply do not have the drive to update any of my trailer mods right now. In all honesty, I'm giving thought to just simply closing my trailer mods altogether. There are other trailer mods that do what I do to an equal, lesser, or even greater extent. My trailer mods, while relatively simple in what's done to make them work, are tedious for me to update/maintain. With other better mods out there, I don't even use my own trailer mods anymore.
Sanguinem Luna  [author] 17 Mar, 2023 @ 7:42am
Does this mean I'll stop making mods or updating my other mods entirely? I can't say for sure. My Foodtank Cargo mod is also fairly tedious to maintain. My other smaller mods aren't as tedious, such as the Unrestricted Air Horn and Slower Blinker mods. My Expanded Wheel Tuning mod can get tedious at times as well, but not nearly to the extent as my trailer mods or Foodtank cargo mod. Time will tell I suppose, if I stop modding this game or simply maintain a few of my mods.

Regardless of what happens, it's been a great time. I'm glad I could bring some additional joy to this game for so many of you with my simple mods. I wish all of you the best, and safe travels.

Nope, just this version exists. If you're looking for state restrictions to be kept, I would highly suggest checking out Gdog900's mod Expanded Trailer Combinations mod, which is linked in this mod's description. His mod not only keeps state restrictions, but also offers far many more trailer combos than my mod offers, because he edits/creates 3D models, which is something I don't do.

this mod looks like lovely but exists a version with state's restriction for more imersion?
Sanguinem Luna  [author] 8 Aug, 2022 @ 5:41am
So, huge shoutout to Gdog900, for experimenting and figuring out that SCS has changed how they handle the hook chassis stuff with the Fueltankers. It turns out that ANY chassis length can use the hook now as it's built into the trailer cables instead of the chassis model itself.

What does this mean? Well, it means I can add more combos for the Fueltankers at the very least. Unknown if this was also done for any other trailers. So, Traindude's suggested combo is possible now. However, this update will take a while. I now have a lot more combos to create, which also means more UI icons to make... So no ETA on when this will happen, but it will happen.

Sanguinem Luna that's ok it was just an idea
Sanguinem Luna  [author] 26 Jul, 2022 @ 7:55am
That requires editing models, which is something I don't do. Sorry.
