UPDATE
default_base.theater/particle_manifest.txt no longer needed. I added the dismembered particle effect to a native pcf, no longer requiring a precache condition.

Thanks to Linothorax for holding onto old models from DOI and for his curiosity, we now have gore in Insurgency 2!

SERVER HOSTS
IMPORTANT: Pushing this mod to clients via Workshop will cause the client to crash. The mod works when its vpk is in the insurgency/custom folder. I don't know how things work server side but pushing this mod to the client directly apart from Workshop should work.


Model directory has been changed to avoid issues or conflicts for clients when playing on different servers. Thanks to AKH Prevent for bringing attention to this possible issue.

The New Model Path: "models/characters/dismembered/model_name.mdl"

Insurgent and Secuirty No Armor character models are defined in the default.theater

The character model assignment based on armor type for Light Armor and Heavy Armor is done with the gear.theater(default_gear.theater):
"sec_light_armor" { //... //... //... "player_model_override" "models/characters/dismembered/security_standard.mdl" }


Required console commands:
cl_ragdoll_dismemberment 1 //client side. Enabled by default
sv_ragdoll_dismemberment 1 //server side. Enabled by default

Preferential CVARS:
cl_ragdoll_dismember_limb_limit 4 //Default is 2. At 4 all limbs dismember every time.
cl_ragdoll_dismember_bullets_fraction 0.1 // 1.0 = 1 bullet to dismember a limb. 0.1 is default.

Enter find dismember in the dev console for more cavrs.


THIS MOD WILL NOT ADD DISMEMBERMENT TO CUSTOM CHARACTER MODELS
THIS MOD IS COMPATABLE WITH CHARACTER TEXTURE MODS

There is only 1 set of gibs used for all models as I am still trying to figure out what the main issue is with custom gibs.

Hi, I would like to add this mod to our coop/checkpoint server side. I am familiar with most aspects of modding the game, though current instructions are still unclear on how the client obtains the files and dismemberment.

Where precisely, does a server administrator place the vpk on the server side for the client to get it? Is it placed inside the insurgency/custom/workshop folder? Or just the insurgency/custom folder? Or does it go some other folder?

Yes I understand theater files need to be edited to overwrite the model used. We use 35 angry bots The Armory theater and files. I know there is a PVP version of dismemberment and The Armory, but I am not sure if it would work for the coop gamemodes.

Can we please just get a gorey dismemberment mod that works on singleplayer id fkn love so much, insurgency 2 has hella gore compared too 1 and I reallu want this in this game so please anyone or even the author thats a simple mod download please

Getting this to work in singleplayer is actually incredibly easy. All you have to do is go into the theater files and change the 6 (3 on insurgents, 3 on security) team player model's paths to include /dismemberment. The Hardcore Solo mod {LINK REMOVED} has this feature for singleplayer, and some documentation to how it works if you want to slap it into any other theater (including the default ones).

So I've released an overhaul mod that uses PrimeCuts (fully implemented on all game modes, in solo too.)
Since I didn't get a reply yet, I'm gonna post it here, and if the author's would want me to take it down, I will take it down.

Hello, author. I'm currently making a solo overhaul mod that works well with Katka's Sandstorm ports. I finally got this to work in solo. Just a few more theater tweaks and all game modes will be included in all theater (Hardcore/Elite) Is it okay to use this mod for the overhaul mod? I'll post the link for crediting if ever
