Not So Fast - No Connections

In 1 collection by Libbybapa
Libbybapa's Easier Maps
8 items
Description
Difficulty 4/10 (easy-medium) for experienced players.

The experience necessary for this map is a solid understanding of the various ways that one can add or subtract momentum with different flings between different heights. With a solid understanding of those concepts, this map is relatively easy. Without that understanding this map will be seemingly impossible. If inexperienced with those concepts, a decent easy progressive tutorial is this No Elements map collection.

This map is a logical map where all the intended moves are easy to execute. No ninja moves, no glitches, no fast timing, no fast aimed portal shots (they really aren't necessary), no cube throwing, oh wait, there aren't any cubes. In fact there aren't any elements at all... except a few turrets. Best to avoid those.

Notes:
-kill the turrets the easy way
-air strafing is not required in this map, in fact, it is anti-helpful
-juggling can be helpful at times, to eliminate the need for quick aimed portal shots
-all flings are designed to be done with an initial jump

Thanks to Nobody-No One and Midd for playtesting.

Excellent!

I beat it! Getting through (some of) No Elements totally helped, although I admit I had to look at
the walkthrough a few times to make sure I wasn't crazy with some of the solutions (I was doing them right, I just got caught up on some of the jumps since I walked into them when I should have jumped and the like)

As for No Elements, I stopped around Map 17. I genuinely hated 16 and 17, and even after beating 16, kind of just couldn't get the point. Oh well, at least it got me this far!

Awe, I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I do admit it was just starting to frustrate me, given it didn't seem like it would be as hard as it is. I have in fact been playing through the No Elements collection to try and resolve this!

And also, even if it gave me a hard time, this map is still super super dope, and has kind of inspired me a bit. I've messed with Hammer and the like a lot lot, and this map's visual style really intrigues and inspires me. Might even help inspire my own future test chambers once I'm clever enough to design my own!

OldManHan, I don't think that it is a matter of being foolish. As mentioned in the description, this map is for experienced players. You only have 84 hours playing this game. If you play through the No Elements collection that is linked in the description and then come back to this, you will likely have a much easier time. Thanks for giving it a try and commenting!

Thanks for playing, commenting and posting your blind run video. You were sooo close to the solution! You even said it at 26:50 and then 29:33. Regardless, it was fun to watch the video. Thanks again.

Amazing puzzle, I really wish I had got the opportunity to take the description's advice and played the No Elements collection first cause this absolutely beat me.

Thanks NicolasDreams! FWIW, I only give whole number difficulty ratings and 3.5 rounds up to 4. :) The ratings are also just a general guideline to help people know what they are in for, and individual experiences will vary. Thanks for playing and commenting!

Finally got around to play this map. Very good puzzle and visuals. I like the use of turrets as permabuttons. Also I find interesting that what was the hardest part to figure out for me (and watching the comments, for other people too) was getting to the exit, even though both sequences are very similar and the one for the exit is simpler .
Also, this is the first 4/10 difficulty map I beat (yippee), although it felt more of a 3.5/10 for me. Maybe I played a bit too many No Elements maps.

Awesome puzzle man. Got as far as knocking over all the turrets, but flinging to the exit proved to be extremely tedious.
