Description
This test has become affectionately named 'Piece of Cake' by the employees of the J.Q.Walrustitty department for 2 reasons. 1) It is laughably easy, designed originally as a speed test. 2) Because test subjects are first given a piece of cake which they are told is laced with fast acting drugs to increase their physical and mental capabilities, however the drugs are actually an anesthetic. Once unconscious they are scalped and their skull is opened exposing the brain, which is then connected to the aperture mainframe. The mainframe runs this test as a simulation which, to the test subject, feels real in everyway. During the simulation neural pathways are mapped and synaptic responses measured to aid in developing new testing technologies. When they awaken they are then given more cake as a reward (this time drug free - we're not complete monsters!)

That was pretty good, well designed and used some excellent mechanics. Unfortunately, I don't feel it was that satisfying to solve, mostly because, beyond the first ball mechanism, I never really interacted with much, just the lasers that direct the funnels. The ball mechanism was good, the player had to think about what they did but the rest of the room felt a bit lacking despite looking really busy and involving.
As an aside, most anaesthetics are administered intravenously or through inhalation, it's pretty tricky to lace cake with a needle without anyone noticing. Invasive brain-machine interfaces are typically used to support a damaged sensory input thanks to the high level of neuroplasticity displayed by the various sensory cortices rather than to simulate realities.

I've got a little collection of chambers going and I'm always interested in feedback. I'd be grateful if you'd have a look:
