Description
George Washington (1789-1797)

No political party

George Washington is (as of 2018) the highest-ranking military officer in the United States with the five-star general title "General of the Armies", having been the Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Army which led the Thirteen Colonies into Independence as United States of America. He was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and is known as "Father of the Nation", "First in the hearts of his countrymen" and many other unofficial titles.

His numerous deeds are too much to be listed here, but he was one of the major figures in the drafting of a 1787 document called the "Constitution of the United States of America", which is still the foundation of the then newborn nation.

General Washington fought in the Secession war where Europe fought against its separatist overseas territory known as the "Thirteen States". The war ended with a victory for the Thirteen States, and their independence as "United States of America", named so after the explorer Amerigo Vespucci who suggested that the land, discovered in 1492 by Spaniard Cristobal Colombo on his way from Europe to Cipangu and Cathai (i.e. Japan and India) via the route to the west instead of the east - it was well-established that the Earth was round, and despite some rumors that came up later the theory of a flat Earth never was taken serious, was not India (thus the name "Indians" for the native Americans) but a completely new country - as it later turned out the same country once visited by Northern European seafarers known as Vikings.

Emigrants from Europe started to settle down there after the land was discovered, and when on their way to the established colony of Virginia the settlers aboard a ship named "Mayflower" noticed they had no more beer on board they settled to the nearest spot of land, founding Plymouth. With immigration from Europe and the wish for freedom from the crown, one day in a colony named Boston, possibly somewhat drunk settlers decided to throw the heavily taxed tea over board of their ships in an event now called the "Boston Tea Party". The spark to a revolution was born. After the ensuing war, said George Washington became the first president of the newlyfounded nation.

Washington focused on establishing a strong economy, leading the United States of American to be a self-sufficient country. Faced with threats of the native Americans which were unwelcome to Europeans taking their land, the English-French war in Europe, and financial crisis, historians agree that Washington handled all the issues excellent, earning him a place in history not only as the first president, but the First of the Nation, and a guaranteed #1 spot on any list of the best U.S. presidents of all time.

Note that a comprehensive portrayal of each president would go too far, and almost each president had negative aspects. Please refer to any neutral and well-written encyclopedia for details.
