How To Transfer Your Old Account to Steam

1. Go to the shortcut for opening Wizard101 on your browser, and right click it, select "properties", then "open file location".
(The directory location for this file will be "C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101").

2. Copy all of the content in the Wizard101 folder, and then go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wizard101", and delete all of the content in that folder.

3. Paste all of the content from "C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101" into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wizard101", then boot up your game.

4. Delete your old shortcut, it will no longer work if you moved everything from one folder to the other. (Then again, I'm assuming that you're following this guide to use the Steam version, not the standalone client).

If you already have your username saved on the other client's login window, then it should already be there when you open Wizard101 via Steam. You may enter your password and login, with your account linked to Steam.

UPDATE: Updating the game will remove all of the data. But don't worry, everything is stored on their server, meaning that you won't lose progress. This just means that you will have to keep on copying and pasting your data over whenever there's an update.

@Koda You're not actually playing the steam version, you're just tricking steam into thinking your are, but it's just the K.I launcher being launched through steam.

@Koda The benefits are basically have steam track your ingame hours and be shown to your friends as playing W101. It also adds to the Steam charts so, it'll look like more players are on the game. Even though 90% of the players use the K.I launcher, it still at least makes the game look more populated.

If you bother KI support long enough they will change your account so that you can use Steam funds

Works as of Sept 2021, Steam no longer gives the error that it has to be launched from the OG launcher, but in game purchases still direct you to the website. Steam Wallet Cannot Be Used.
This is basically a different way of adding a non steam game to your library.
Most of the problems for this are because the Steam Account name and OG Account name are the same and Kingsisle treats it as the same account when you log in.
Kingsisle or who ever owns wizards101 really needs to allow linking of steam accounts to OG accounts, or character transfers even. And change their pricing too!! Most areas are $25 to $40 in crowns, with 20 diff areas, it's almost $1000 for a free to play player to gain access with out a membership!
