best game ever made. everyone complains about "paywall", but can gladly spend $15-$20 on a monthly streaming service with no issue, just to have it run in the background and not watch it/ go to sleep, but Wizard101 has constant content to go through, pet pavilion, pvp, raids, side quests like no other, rare drops that you potentially have to indulge a day into. its a great time escape, majority of the community is kind, everyone just chills playing this game and everyone can relate to certain struggles in game. do suggest canceling any streaming service and buying a membership for W101.

Wizard 101 represents my childhood and holds some of my fondest memories, both in video games and in life. This game is incredibly fun, allowing you to put in countless hours while still discovering new and exciting features. From engaging in thrilling PvP battles and owning pets to exploring diverse worlds and enjoying rich lore and storylines, Wizard 101 has something for everyone. The community aspect also stands out, enabling you to make friends and team up with other players for quests and events.

However, there are some significant issues that need to be addressed. The game's monetization tactics feel predatory, with an outdated membership format that restricts gameplay as early as the later parts of Wizard City. In 2024, this approach doesn't hold up well, and the heavy reliance on microtransactions can be off-putting.

Another concern is the lack of responsiveness from the developers regarding player needs. An example is that there are older worlds, such as Marleybone and Mooshu, that require optimization. The first arc, in particular, could benefit from a visual and story revamp to make it more cohesive and engaging.

Despite these issues, I have spent over 500 hours on my non-Steam account over the past 12 years. I genuinely love this game and want to see it flourish. Wizard 101 has immense potential, and with the right changes, it can grow and become even bigger and better. I hope the developers address these concerns to help the game reach its full potential one day even though unfortunately my hopes for that are not as high seeing KingsIsle's history...

Playing with my mate who wants to rekindle his childhood memories. I never played when I was younger but am enjoying it.

The thing that stood out to me today is how populated the world and cities feel. Teaming up for quest bosses have quicker queue times than a lot of modern mmos I have played.

Card based combat feels very stale when the animations are too long. But the deck building is satisfying enough.

Lastly the community has been fantastic! Super friendly and helpful with many going out of their way with gifts and friend requests.
