Magnets, how do they work?

This design critically damages and sometimes completely destroys most drones I've come across.

I have seen so many of these in the sumo tournaments. Not extremely hard to beat but seeing it work is just something amazing.

Great... finally we have comme across something that bends the rules. No sumo bot should be equipped with offensive or defensive capabilities. But that is clearly offensive...

It stays in one piece because I spent a long time tweaking the connections to withstand its own magnetic push. The solution was flex, not rigidity (so no weaving and such). There's also magnets that are always attracting to counter some of the internal push. If they are set to repel as well, it's more likely to rip itself apart.
