I play Stellaris V 2.5 (Shelley). I play a biological race (with psionic Trait), and I conquered Gestald assimilation robot empire ; cyborgs (of conquered empire) stay on planet with cybernetic trait (and become mine), but Drone/Machine pop are automatically purged and I cannot change that ; Assimilate option is not possible for them (because machine cannot be turned to psionic).
I suggest the possibility to change to "Machine Trait" (Machine of Gestald Empire) to "Mechanical Trait" (Robotic: Robot, Droid, or Synthetic, depend of the technology discover). Machine pop become inert without central processor, but we can imagine to re-program them and turn them to normal Robot or Droid with Robomodding (Research Project).
So, I suggest the possibility of using Robomodding (Research Project) (to modify Machine Trait to Mechanical Trait) instead Assimilate option.
I conquered Gestald assimilation robot race, options assimilation was on and it went on assimilating them.
They got assimilated and got the Cybernetic trait but still where Gestald. option of assimilation was grayed out, coulnt not change them from undesirable and got slowly purged.
How ever some did change into Mechanical trait and became Servitude (36 of 70ish) pop survied the purging. If Servitude is correct rights for Machine pop then its okey. still sad more then half perished.
I think the bug lies with Ascension Perk The Flesh is Weak. as this assimilate non Cybernetic races to Cybernteics and I gues assimilating over assimilating gets bit wonky.
But that is just my idea. I havent tested it out, no idea how to quickly test it either and i'm no coder what so ever, just my logic of dubble assimilation perposes fucking eath other up.
