Description
History
Being designed to replace Gunslinger, Valkyrie was designed as to feature higher firepower, mobility, and survivability, all for a reduced weight compared to both Mk.I and Mk.II Gunslingers…

The first noticeable change would be the size of the tank, which would turn out to be quite a lot smaller than the Gunslinger. This was done as it was believed that vertical protection was far less important when compared to horizontal protection, so weight could be saved by loosing some of the vertical protection. This would also allow more focus to be put into the horizontal protection of the tank.

The next really apparent change would be the main cannon. Whilst the Gunslinger’s 100mm MagCannon was sufficient, all too often were HMBTs required to deal with targets that a 125mm MagCannon could have dealt with. As such, Valkyrie Mk.1 was give the 125mm MagCannon Mk.IV, before the Mk.1d was given the far improved 125mm MagCannon Mk.V. This would provide a well needed firepower increase to the tank. The tank would also keep the hunter/killer mode of the Gunslinger Mk.II, allowing the gunner to either aim manually, or automatically.

Finally, Valkyrie would show improvements over Gunslinger in mobility. The lower height of the tank would make it far more stable, meaning that the hybrid suspension, which caused speed issues for the Gunslinger Mk.II, could be abandoned, in favour of a more conventional setup. This would allow an increase from Gunslinger’s fairly respectable 79km/h top speed, to an almost 100km/h top speed. The suspension was also designed to have 2 modes. Combat mode, and off-road mode. With the combat mode, the suspension was placed in its lowest setting. This would reduce the profile of the tank, as well as preventing shots from exploding beneath the tank and doing huge amounts of damage. However, when in off-road mode, the suspension would be put at full height, giving the tank a massive amount of clearance, and allowing it to deal with uneven terrain far better.

Overall, Valkyrie Mk.I would be considered a huge success. However, like all designs, was not perfect, and these imperfections would be addressed in a later model.

This version is a standard version of the Valkyrie Mk.I, but redecorated to feature the standard Quantum Industries desert camouflage.

Author’s note: This tank was designed before the creation of penetration based weapons. As such, there is some weaker areas of armour that were not apparent before. This will be later addressed in a future version of Valkyrie, however, could not be done without major reworks to the design. As such, I have decided to upload this version.

@k0i0k0i0 apologies, the 3rd mod was removed by the author, and i was unaware it had been removed from the required list. However, a friend of mine has reuploaded that mod, which i have just added to the list. It will work the same as the previous one, so no need to worry about missing blocks.
