Megaptera Gunship Mk20

Description
Fully Equipped Lvl 10 Small Vessel Built for Empyrion - Galactic Survival Alpha 8.6.1

TLDR:
This ship is a highly manoeuvrable, good speed, small size, well armoured and warp capable vessel with everything.

It contains every tool and device you can put in or on a small vessel and all within a walk through pressurised cockpit that includes a passenger seat for coop players.

It also looks visually distinctive (hopefully interesting) and flies very dynamically. Comes standard with only 2 Gatling Guns and 2 Rocket Launchers but includes hard points for an additional 12 guns allowing 16 total guns whilst still maintaining looks and performance.

Complete loadout breakdown in over the top but accurate sales pitch style:

The ‘Megaptera’ line of gunships earned their name after the mighty marine mammal Megaptera novaeangliae, more commonly known as the Humpback Whale, whose form served as inspiration. In keeping with its namesake the ‘Megaptera’ are powerful, hardy and deceptively agile long range Scout vessels. Equipped with the full spectrum of modern conveniences and ready hard points for increased armament, the adaptability of the Megaptera make it a popular choice amongst both Military and Militia alike. The Mk 2.0 series of the Megaptera line includes more Generators to keep you going longer, increased Cockpit size to keep you comfortable, more Thrusters to get you there faster and even more RCS units to help avoid any unpleasantness along the way.

Standard layout includes:
  • 1 Pilot seat and 1 Passenger seat inside a secure pressurised open Cockpit ensuring only the most comfortable journey when chasing comets or transporting dignitaries.
  • 2 Levers located above the pilot seat control power states, the Starboard lever (Explosion label) turns on or off all thrusters/flight control systems whilst the Port lever (Atom label) will turn off all devices except for 1 Generator and Fridge units. (Note: Use Starboard lever before using Port lever to enter low power mode as Port lever will disable starboard lever.)
  • 4 LCD Screens capable of displaying the very latest in ultra high definition single frame 1bit ascii graphics. (Note: Included graphics files were sourced from copyright free collections.)
  • 2 small personal Cargo Boxes for those little treasures you never want to leave behind on the long hauls.
  • 2 Fridge units will keep your precious perishables reliably crisp and fresh, day in and day out. (Note: In Low Power mode with full Fuel Tanks fridge will remain operational for over 1030 minutes)
  • 2 full size Cargo Containers keep your storage needs covered with all the space you could require for trade or transit.
  • 2 automated Mobile Constructors will keep working away on whatever task you program them with, leaving you free to enjoy your flight without worrying over missing your production quota. (Note: In Low Power mode Mobile Constructors will be deactivated pausing any items in construction que)
  • 4 Ammo Boxes will allow you to load up on all the most powerful and exotic ammunition you can think of... all for your own personal defence only of course.
  • 2 Gatling Guns and 2 Rocket Launchers help ensure peace of mind but when it comes to defence nothing beats a good offense, if the standard layout is insufficient for the task at hand use any or all of the twelve extra mounting hard points to guarantee victory. (Note: Extra guns not included, mounting hard points provided primarily for aesthetic purposes and should not be construed in any way as support or endorsement of reaver behaviour)
  • 2 Armour Locker units will allow you to stow and or gear up and ready yourself to meet either the hazard of unfamiliar environments head on or lack of environment helmet on. (Note: Armour not included)
  • 1 O2 Station and 2 O2 Tanks provide easy access to pure clean air with the O2 station conveniently located above the pilot seat. (Note: fill tanks and activate Oxygen system before leaving an oxygenated atmosphere)
  • The Port and Starboard Lever controlled Armoured Door, Shutters and twin Ramp airlock system (Labelled with a toxic symbol) will allow you to quickly exit the vessel and more importantly guide you back in, even in zero gravity conditions. (Note: over and under ramps do actually help a bit but even so try to remember to level the ship before exiting in zero G and always activate your personal Jetpack)
  • 4 Fuel Tanks can be conveniently refuelled either inside the cockpit behind the passenger seat or via the External Shutter on the Aft Keel of the ship for a no mess solution. (Note: full Fuel will allow for approximately 25minutes of tight manoeuvres in Earth like atmosphere.)
  • 1 Short Range Warp Drive and Short Range Warp Tank (tank accessible behind passenger seat) provide the latest in relativitaly long distance generally fast travel technology with an astronomical 15AU jump range. (Note: astronomically speaking 15AU is a very very short distance)
  • 14 Thruster Jet S engines, 32 Thruster Regular M engines and 4 Thruster S engines will keep you moving when not exploring the far reaches of the solar system; safe and secure in the knowledge that no physic's'al laws are being broken. (Note: We accept no responsibility for breaking of local laws, it is assumed that all pilots are fully licensed and aware of all speed limits and airspace regulations relevant to their region of operation)
  • 39 RCS units help make certain those engines never steer you off course thanks to the finest Reaction Control Systems on the market. (Note: RCS units cannot compensate for pilot error or predict pilot desired action when contrary to pilot controlled input, however when in doubt stabilise.)
  • 1 Detector on board located under the passenger seat means you need have no fear of passing by any fascinating Points Of Interest as the system keeps you automatically updated on your surroundings. (Note: Please ensure passengers do not exceed recommended gas emission levels as this can interfere with the detectors delicate sensor array.)
  • 7 Spotlights are provided to ensure you can always see where your going and 14 regulation safety Flares maintain your visibility to others because safe skies are happy skies. (Note: When in unhappy skies disable flares for your safety.)
  • 4 Generators each producing 1.80MW provide a total power output of 7.2MW so you can be sure your vessel has all the oomph it needs to keep all this and more running smoothly under any condition. (Note: Engines will reach near but not over 90% when performing tight manoeuvres in Earth like atmosphere.)

Authors Note:
If somehow you have yet to see the 'Orca Scout Gunship (SV)' by Jolly R0ger that served as the stylistic inspiration for this vessel you should really check it out at the link below...

@ Black Anima Thank you for your service and feedback. Best of luck with your project; if you decide to publish it would be great if you could link here so I can try your ship out.

Please feel free to use her however you see fit, if that includes refit and rerelease credit is appreciated but not required. All rights given no rights reserved.

I hope she tickles others fancy as much as she does mine; feels silly to say seeing as I built her but she is my all time favourite at the moment. Any problems, suggestions, requests or other please leave a comment. If you feel like having a laugh at my OCD spawn her into creative mode and break down the inside devices of the ship from the passenger seat back leaving the hull intact. For those who do this I swear I am not crazy I find working like that really helps optimise the ship as well as assisting in repairs if you don't have a repair bay handy.

Size wise at 7.5x12.5x4 she is only a little larger than the Orca's 6.5x9x3, not as fast to top speed but with greater manoeuvrability and everything you could possibly want on board at your fingertips (well at least everything that the game will let you put on board). As much as I like the visual appeal of the original Orca and its very respectable cost every time I used her it kind of felt like a one hit wonder in the sense of one hit and you wonder where your ship went, this ship with both open cockpit and deep protected core is a lot more forgiving of lazy pilots like myself.

I was working on a completely different ship inspired by the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey as part of a visually unified fleet of ships and the finished product reminded me a little of the 'Orca Scout Gunship (SV)' by Jolly R0ger . So I thought to myself why not actually try to make an intentionally Orca inspired ship with a whole lot extra. This is the end result.
