Red Dawn: an alternate history mod for HOI4, diverges from our own timeline on the 17th of September, 1939. On this day, very much as in our own timeline, the Soviet Union issues an official declaration of war on Poland and the Polish Government. However, in our timeline, the Allies just turned and looked away when The Soviet Union Invaded, they were busy with Germany, they didn't need an entire other super power to be at war with. In The Red Dawn timeline the Allies took a more aggressive approach, including trade embargoes and diplomatic sanctions. The rest of the war tended to play out the exact same in our timeline, June 1941, Germany invades the Soviets, December 1941, Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, The Yalta Conference,.... In 1945 the world is almost the same in both timelines, but with a more aggressive nature between Western democracies and the Soviet Union.

England's colonies began to fall apart in the late 40s and early 50s, with many of them having support from the Soviet Union, not wanting to have all of Africa be exposed and subject to communism, France refused to let most of her colonies go, mainly the ones in South West Africa. In the late 60s it was apparent her African colonies were going to do anything for independence, so the French released the Northwest African colonies of Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. The French still refused to release the South West colonies even though in the southern parts, supported by the Soviet Union a communist rebellion was brewing. The US began to support a pseudo nationalist/fascist movement in the northern parts of France's colonies, as to not have the entire colony fall to communism. France, in diplomatic protest, left NATO and sought to bring all of Europe with her, which she eventually did in the early 80s. NATO had fallen apart, leaving only The US, Britain, Canada, and some of the US's allies in the faction, where as the European Union was now another faction separate from NATO. On December 31, 1982, all French forces left Southwest Africa, after suffering a 30 year long guerrilla campaign, leaving a giant power vacuum in that area. Two factions, the Communist in the south, and the Nationalists in the North, are fighting over power in the entire colony.

In early 1984 the wheat fields in The Ukraine fail, leaving millions in the area starving and impoverished. While in the US the great plains are receiving best harvest in years, making the Soviets Jealous and in need of a national boost.

Seeing NATO weak, the Soviet Union, with help from Nicaragua and Cuba, stage a communist coup in Mexico, and the envious power in the east begins to draw plans to invade their sworn enemy. On September 1, 1984, 45 years after the start of the Second World War launch attacks on the US by paratroopers on commercial airlines. With troops pouring over the border from Mexico, and strategically nuking 3 US cities, the Soviet Union quickly engulfs much of the Us's West coast. Apart of the plan, nicknamed Operation Red Dawn, also saw the Soviet ground invasion of Communist China, including nuking countless cities and killing millions of Chinese people.

The fate of the entire world now rests in your hands, will you play as the US, and attempt to bring Europe back into your sphere? Or, as The Soviet Union, and finally crush your sworn enemy and bring about perpetual world revolution? Communist China, and fight to the last man to save your country? Communist or Nationalist Africa? Decide the fate of the entire continent? The possibilities are endless, and it is up to you to decide the fate of the rest of human history....
