ONLY MAP FILES ARE INCLUDED IN WORKSHOP SUBSCRIPTION. IN ORDER TO GET EVERYTHING WORKING CORRECTLY PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION

The workshop download offers two map files: jokersplaygroundwater.bsp and jokersplaygroundwatercheap.bsp. The difference between the two is that the former has dynamic water reflections while the latter is static. Reflective water, especially with lots of lights, is very taxing on framerate. You might consider working on cheap water map and then swap it to expensive for final render.

INSTALLATION

- Download asset files from this link[drive.google.com] and extract them to your usermod folder.

Then you have two options to proceed with.

THE EASY WAY

- Download the session file from here[drive.google.com] and extract it to your usermod folder.
- Start SFM and load jokersplayground.dmx session.
- Load either jokersplaygroundwater.bsp or jokersplaygroundwatercheap.bsp.
- In the case lights, cameras and models are not grouped, right click on empty space in animation editor tab and ensure "Show Scene Hierarchy" is toggled on. All model files should be spawned and correctly locked. You'll also have cameras with tweaked draw distance and some preconfigured lights divided into several subgroups.

THE LONG WAY

Only recommended for advanced users who want full control and understanding of session setup.

- Download and copy Revzin's autoassembly script to usermod folder if you don't have it already.
- Load either jokersplaygroundwater.bsp or jokersplaygroundwatercheap.bsp.
- Add static meshes:
- Spawn Jokersplaygroundpart.mdl.
- Use Zero or Default preset on its roottransform bone.
- Run autoassembly script the same way you add any IK rig.
- Add dynamic meshes:
- Spawn Jokersplaygrounddynamicpart.mdl.
- Use Zero or Default preset on its roottransform bone.
- Run autoassembly script the same way you add any IK rig.
- Setup the cameras
- Right click on camera animation set -> Show in Element Viewer -> Camera
- Increase zfar value to 1000000

A FEW GENERAL NOTES ON USAGE

- Jokersplaygrounddynamicpart.mdl is the only model that is meant to be directly manipulated for posing and animations. It contains control bones for all rigged elements of the scene (carousel, ferris wheel, mannequins, train etc) Don't try to pose any other models if you used revzin's script, they won't work.
- Cars on ferris wheel need to be locked to world in order to make rotation more realistic and easier to control. To achieve that you need to expand all Car bones (Car1-Car13) inside jokersplaygrounddynamicpart animation set and click on a small square to the left of "rot" attribute. If you use premade session you can skip this.
- Brightness of the HDR skydome can be controlled with tonemapscale and bloomscale in your camera properties.
- It's recommended to have a few fill lights covering the scene, else metallic surfaces might look too dark.

I love how creepy this map is. Imma use it for one of my stories where the TF2 mercs go to the carnival and they interact with the stuff there.

lighting you see on the images is custom placed. the map itself has no lights. it's just a water plane essentially

i would really like to use this. i read the instructions like 20 times i dont understand what im doing wrong. the map loads all the objects load its just super super dark and the Ferris wheel doesn't move. any help please?
