Classes
After completing the tutorial, you'll be free to change your class, choosing one of the 4 available classes. Feel free to try them out to see which one rocks your boat.

Classes have different starting items (some in which you must buy with data to be available), different perks (most of the you'll gradually unlock when leveling up the class), a different core (lots of passive bonuses) and some passive bonus when reaching level 5/10/15/20. So keep in mind the initial experience with that class may be totally different after it reaches certain levels.

Guardian

If you like being tough and hate getting instakilled, it's for you. Has extra health compared to other classes, does extra damage with shotgun. Extra-resistant to stun, and loves to stun others with grenade and taser.

Perks in general makes him even thougher, via invulnerabily frames, extra health pool and regen, plating, armor, and shield pool and regen.

Rogue

If you like accuracy and placing headshots, it's for you. Its core allows you to right-click with mouse for laser sight and extra precision. Naturally its weapon of choice are sniper rifles and DMR (designated marskan rifles). Can start with a crossbow via item.

Perks in general either rewards headshots even more, or gives survival bonus for being still.

Commando

If you like spewing bullets around like a madman and rushing like a zerg, here you go! The core gives nice passive bonuses to health, ammo gain and dash cooldown, and allows you to reset item cooldowns on quick kills. Can use his Rambo Knife with right-click optionally, has some cool buffing items.

Perks in general rewards his suicial behavior even more (I actually have no clue, my commando is level 5, I suck playing him).

Specialist

If you came from MOBA and love hugging towers, you'll feel at home. Has actually some nice extra crit chance from core, stronger shield, and gets less heat. Starting loadout has the OBLIGATORY SENTRY TURRET, ammo and health recovery items, and even a grenade launcher. He's actually a specialist in low-ammo-low-dps weapons such as that one!

Perks in general allows him to recover ammo quickly, use generated heat in his favor and buffs his status-proc'ng capabilities.

Hints & Tricks
Some quick tips to improve your chances of survival, having more fun or just fooling around in style!

They're not zombies, but aim for the head

Humanoid enemies take extra damage from headshots. If your weapon is slow and precise, take your time and place shots on them. If your weapon isn't very precise and fires quickly, aim for the head still, spray and pray.

Bullets aren't team players

Enemy fire can hit themselves. When overwhelmed, try to align enemies, so if they try to fire you, they'll hit themselves, killing them for you and protecting you as well.

If very useful specially against sniper soldiers/turrets (wait for them to charge on you until late, than quickly hide behind an enemy so they get the fire).

Also works for non-bullet weapons of mass destruction, like rocket barrages, guided rockets and mortars.

Mortars have suicidal tendencies

If you trigger a mortar, just get near it, it'll lob a mortar at you, go away to avoid its fire and make it hit itself. You don't have even to spend bullets on it.

Just beware of "elite" mortars as they'll have more shots before cooldown!

Turrets turn using keyboard, not mouse

When facing faced-turrets (that have to face you to fire), you can easily go around them if you get near, so they'll never shoot at you if you keep circling them. If you hold your fire and gets too slow, stop firing a little, dash to the side and keep circling it!

Thou shall not keep the cursor in the middle

You can view further away from you when you cursor is near the edges, panning your camera away from the center.

Always use that, specially when moving vertically (since wide screens favor a little horizontal sight).

You can also exploit that when having weapons with good range against static enemies with lower range, like a boss (unless devs fix it of course).

Location, location, location

Just entered a level, and don't know where the corners of the screen are? Hold TAB or M, the game will show you where you are in the map of that room, so it'll be easier to know where to go or where to NOT look for enemies.

Sweet step o' mine

You know those snipers that keep dropping mines where they stand? When they're not watching you or when you're nearby and concealed, you can just approach them, step on their mine, then dash away, so they get stunned from their own mine. Might be useless, but it's fun to do.

You can also use that to trigger mines near other enemies that are coming towards you. Use their traps on themselves!

Never stop moving, unless you're firing

Moving around will greatly reduce the chance of getting hit, but when placing shots, make quick pauses at least to increase your accuracy.

Also watch the reticle when doing this - if it gets bigger when you fire, you'd better not hold the trigger, but give more space between each shot.

OMG A WEIRD ROBOT-CONSTRUCTION ASKING TO ACCEPT QUEST

Yes, the game has a quest on certain levels, but please, avoid accepting the quest unless said room is clear, or else you might just make it tougher than it should, fail the quest or even die in shame.

If you had a tough time on said level, be it for being too newbie, having no useful weapons/items or whatever, it might actually be smart to just skip triggering the quest and proceeding (specially in coop - if you had trouble on that stage in solo, you'll probably die to the boss anyway haha)

OMG TIMED CHESTS/EVENTS

Yes, when you enter a new room you can trigger events such as timed chests (with arrow pointing the directon) or even timed quests (defuse or destroy stuff), but caution, as luring enemies around will probably kill you.

Try to move there without beeing seen by enemies that will seek you, meaning you can trigger mortars (since you'll be moving around they won't hit you) or even towers (but carefully, of course), but humanoid will seek you, make noise and gank you.

OMG THAT BOSS WIPED ME I COULDN'T EVEN BREATH IN TIME

Yes, this game is made by sadists, for masochists. Didn't you read the EULA? Bosses might have a very different pacing from the game in general, so you won't have places to hide, and getting shot in the face for a second is enough to kill you.

So, keep moving, strafe here and there, save the dash when you get the first hit, and be ready to use all your potions. You'll probably die the first time you face all bosses, until you can learn their patterns.

I KEEP RUNNING OUT OF AMMO

While some runs are really horrible on ammo drops, you should notice that some weapons have lower ammo supply, or fires too quickly and burns its ammo, so you'll hardly be able to replace them all the time.

On such cases, you'd better only keep at most one of these weapons, and keep using another weapon, with better ammo efficiency, as "main" on stages, and only switch to it on dire occasions or bosses.

If you have two weapons like this, having to use pistols frequently later on, you'd better switch one of them if possible, or it'll hurt your eficiency in general.
Gameplays
Rogue Solo Gameplay (Floors 1-4)

Almost all GIFs were extracted from this gameplay, as I was basically trying new tricks out.

Specialist Solo Gameplay (Floors 3-4)

A little uglier gameplay, as it was the first time I reached Floor 4, so I was still discovering the enemies... and stuff.

Rogue Coop Gameplay (Floors 1-2)

Playing Rogue with another player as Guardian. Somewhat old gameplay that ended in a crash.

I completed the tutorial. How do I change class, it just put right back into another level?

Hey, mind you, this guide is really old, and the game suffered lots of changes, so this might not hold true. I also don't really remember what I meant, sorry, haven't played the game in ages.

>Can start with a crossbow via item.

Wut? How? I have to know.

If you are having problems with the commando and the raider play more of a 'dashing in and out' play style you will live longer and the class becomes more fun then just suicide. good noobie guide though :D.

Yes, it's very outdated. I haven't really touched the game since it was made. But still, I suppose the tricks will work just fine, the classes bits are pretty much irrelevant.

This guide seems to be outdated. There is many more than just 4 classes in game right now. Also the are called differently
pyr0kid 29 Feb, 2020 @ 11:15am
synthetik doesnt have an ending at this time.
Darkness  [author] 29 Feb, 2020 @ 4:24am
Last time I checked (It has been a while) there wasn't an ending, it basically "looped" the game after finishing it.

Thanks for this guide.
I use Google Translate to translate it into Chinese to understand it. QwQ
I have a question: how to win this game? Is there a standard of "win"?
I hacked the server once but nothing seemed to happen.
