Hahaha absolutely love this, these fantastic creatures are known in Japan as Makkuro Kurosuke ( ~ traveling soot). In english Soot Sprite (spirited away) and Dust Bunnies (Totoro) are their other two names. :skitarii:

@TimeLord259 I think they are Soot devils or Soot Sprites although there are similar creatures in a film by the same company, Studio Ghibli, called Soot Sprites.

They're called Soot devils, i think? I know they're Soot something. Probs spelling that wrong. They're for sure featured in Spirited away and they make an appearance in Totoro. The ones pictured are from Spirited Away. One of my fave Ghibli films.

They feature in both films, but this scene is from Spirited Away.
