Reduces the number of hyperlanes generated to roughly between the x0.75 and x1 density.

About the only change in 2.0 I have not liked is the hyperlane generation system. x1 density doesn't generate enough interesting chokepoints, while x0.75 generates too many one-lane roads. This mod increases the culling of hyperlanes so that x1 is now roughly somewhere in between those two vanilla settings.

Should be compatible with any mod that doesn't also change the hyperlane generation system. Only affects new games. Not achievement friendly.

This is 2.0 compatible. I haven't checked what effect, if any, it may have on 2.1 maps. As changes to the mapping system have made it largely unnecessary, I won't be updating it, but I leave it here for anyone playing a rolled back game.

@MagnusEffect The mapping system has changed significantly since I made this mod. To be honest I've been pretty happy with the vanilla maps since 2.1, so I haven't looked at adjustments to the hyperlane system recently. I might take another look, but for now consider this a legacy mod for people still playing older versions.

Any chance of an update for this? This mod deserves way more attention than it gets. There needs to be more adjustable settingsfor hyperspace lane density. The jump from 2.75 to "full" is crazy.

I did make similar tweak mod, but a bit milder (1310625695).

Found that even with HYPERLANE_GEN_REMOVE_PERC=0.50 (vanilla=0.20, 0.60 here), starts on the outskirts of huge galaxies can be a bit restrictive (bottlenecked by other empires or neutral fleets), as systems get sparse there and most hyperlanes get removed.
Knobs that are currently there don't seem to be enough to affect center-vs-edge hyperlane distribution, but some tweak in-between vanilla x1 and x0.75 is still better than nothing.

Hopefully common enough complaint to be addressed properly in one of the patches, though didn't post anything to the forums about that myself.
