Qin conquered other states and built a united empire, but this did not last long. Heavy tax, public service, punishiment and tyranny led to the revolt of people and former nobles of other states, who overthrew Qin in 3 years. After that, Liu Bang, son of a farmer, managed to win the gamble of civil war and became the 1st emperor of Han. Han continued to have war with Xiongnu, which defeated Yuezhi (Kushan people who built empire in Central Asia later) and Donghu and conquelled Mongolia. However, since the game did not contain Han empire as a faction, it is reluctant to create scenario based on this period.
Spring & Autumn : In this period, China has experienced continuous wars between small states after the decline of Zhou Court. Feudalism was common, and the main force of the army were chariots of noble families. A chariot was not only 3 warriors and 4 horses but also a unit consists of 30 infantry solders mainly came from their fellows. In later period, however, the importance of infantry rose, and square formation emerged. Levies were gradually replaced by professional troops.
Warring States : In this period, most small states were annexed and large states with central government ascended. Traditional nobles declined, and usage of chariots was decreasing. The states kept large scale of professional infantries as the main force of the army (although the number of soldiers were usually overestimated). Meanwhile, military reform led to new weapons and tactics, including new siege machines, iron weapons and cavalry troops.
It is a good idea to create historical battles or campaigns in Chinese history, like Battle of Guiling, Battle of Changping, Battle of Julu, etc.
