NOTE: THIS MOD IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED & IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH DLC - IF YOU WISH TO MAKE COMPANIONS ESSENTIAL, I RECOMMEND ULTIMATE FOLLOWER OVERHAUL, AVAILABLE HERE: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14037

Makes all companions essential, meaning they cannot die by friendly or hostile damage. Exceptions: Erandur, Cicero and Eola.

I love clear feedback, good or bad! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see in this mod, or any bugs that I can fix.

I think I caught all the exceptions, but if you have specific issues with a companion that needs to be unflagged as "Essential" to complete a quest, post a comment, and I'll do my best to have a fix posted within 24 hours.

TO COMPLETE BOETHIAH'S CALLING - SOLUTION 1: If you do not kill either Erandur or Eola for their respective quests, they may be sacrificed. Their related quests are Waking Nightmare in Dawnstar (Erandur), and The Taste of Death in Markarth (Eola).

SOLUTION 2: Simply load the game without the mod activated to allow you to kill the follower you really want to kill, and then reactivate it after the deed is done. That way, as many followers as possible can remain essential.

(I'd like to avoid removing one extra follower as Essential if at all possible, when there are a couple of solutions available.)

Release Notes:

1.0 (Release) - All obtainable companions (based on this list and comments below http://www.gamersheroes.com/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-companion-guide) have been flagged as Essential, meaning they cannot be killed, even by the player. Exceptions (because of potential issues with quests): Erandur, Cicero and Eola.
1.1 - Torvar has been added to the list of essential companions. (Many thanks to Woodsman for seeing the omission!)

Other WG Mods:

Item Rewards For Bounties: Adds a random leveled item as a reward upon quest completion, and changes bounty rewards to 250 gold for Bandits/Forsworn, 500 gold for Giants and 750 gold for dragons.

Breezehome Enchanting Table - Adds an enchanting table to Breezehome right next to the Alchemy Lab. Will only show up once Alchemy Lab decoration is purchased from Proventus in Dragonsreach. Mood lighting included.

Enhanced Alchemy XP - Slightly increases Alchemy XP gain rate (20%) to balance with other skills such as Smithing. Still balanced, more fun.

Improved Imperial Racial Abilities - Changes Voice of the Emperor ability to a +10 Speech bonus for people like me who never use Voice of the Emperor when they roll Imperial characters.

GIANT Animals - Makes all animals, plus trolls, 3x bigger than normal. Just subscribe and walk around Skyrim - it's GREAT for kicks.

Skyscraper Giants - Makes giants 3x bigger.

Visible Slaughterfish - Makes only slaughterfish 3x bigger so you can see them more easily.

Evil Slaughterfish - Makes slaughterfish much more dangerous: 3x damage, 2.5x speed, 3.1x attack chance and 2x health.

i got one better than that i use that makes it where you can not kill your companions and they cant be killed either and they turn on you either so its a very nice mod to use with everything like DLC's amd lots of other mods.

can someone make (or suggest to me) a mod that makes all followers unessential? I want them to be able to be killed by enemy NPCs for fun, because none of the followers I have should live this long. I shouldn't live this long, for that matter. Anyway it would be appreciated.

@Anne_Debnam I havent got to Erandur and Eola quest but In a Dark Brotherhood quest you can kill Cicero

I hope sometime soon you make this compatable with the dlc's but its still the best essential follower mod on the workshop!

Ok so i just uninstalled it, since well i don't use many followers but when i do i'd be ok if they died...IF they died that is, i uninstalled it and everything yet the effects of it have not gone off all the companions i use are immortal, which some would like but when you really wanna kill that big mouth mage in riften it kinda gets in the way. :lasercat: THIS ANGERS LAZA KITTEH!
