Performance Plus

Description
I'll try to explain what this is.
There are shaders and each shader has a specific purpose or is a part of a combination of shaders.
For example, VertexLitGeneric is a model shader. Every model in game you see has a texture (us_heavy_color.vtf) and every texture has a material (us_heavy_color.vmt). These materials are text files that define a shader and it's shader parameters.
What I did was change some shader parameters of shaders that render the game and/or affect the final render of the game.
I've noticed a performance improvement as have others.

The original mod creator said it should work. He just didn't have the game and could not upload it.

Correct me if i'm wrong and sorry if this is a stupid question, just want some clarification. since this is a port of the mod from insurgency, this can be used on both games?

Will this actually affect how the game looks? I have everything max and don't want to lower visual quality, but if this may improve performance at no cost of visual downgrade then that would make me interested, thanks in advance to anyone that can let me know :)
