Tetris: The Board Game

Description
This is a fan recreation of the original "Tetris: The Board Game" that came out late 80s/early 90s. We have worked hard on this recreation and although it doesn't look that impressive took a lot of hard work and we want to share it with everyone else. We have fun playing and we hope others do to. It's not an exact recreation, but we modified how to play to try and make it easier to understand and less likely to be messed up.

Here is everything from the rules in the notebook, where we explain the basics about the game and everything else needed to know:

"Tetris: The Board Game" Recreation

The Basic Goal
The basic goal of Tetris is to line up horizontal lines using the pieces provided to you. The board game differs from the game most are familiar with in many different ways, the biggest difference being the fact that this is a two player game. There's also no timer, making it a much less stressful game, among other things. The goal of the board game is to move the line in the center of the board towards your opponent, until the line can't go any further due to the pieces your opponent has placed. Also, keep in mind that you can rotate the pieces, but you are not allowed to flip them.

The Middle Line
The grey line that starts on the center of the board is the deciding factor on who wins the game. As explained above, the goal of Tetris is to line up as many rows as you can in a horizontal line using the pieces. The more rows you line up at once, the further the center line moves towards your opponent. If you get one row, you move the line one space towards your opponent, two rows you move it 3, three rows you move it 5, full tetris (four rows) you move it 7. You can combat the line moving towards you by getting your own rows. By getting your own rows, the line will move further away from you, and closer to your opponent.

The Cubes
The cubes at the edges of the board are for marking the furthest point the line has been in either direction. You can adjust the color tint of them based on the colors the current players are using. Generally, you should use the square that is to the right of the board from your perspective to mark the furthest the line has been to your opponent's side of the board.

How To Select Pieces
The method of selecting pieces is simple: Roll the D8 provided to you next to the board. Once you roll it, take one piece from one of the bags depending on which number you got. There is a diagram of the pieces contained in each bag next to them so you know which bag to take a piece from. Below is a diagram explaining which pieces you should take based on the number you got from the D8.

Dice Rolls
Press R when hovering over the die to roll it, or you could right click it and press roll, or just shake it around when you pick it up with the cursor.

1 = S
2 = Z
3 = R
4 = L
5 = T
6 = I
7 = Cube
8 = Roll again, there is no eighth piece.

What You Can and Can't Do
This will be tricky to explain without images, but I'll try my best. Basically, if you find yourself in a situation where you'e not sure if you're allowed to make a specific move or not, the easiest way to think of it is this: If you can't do that move in an actual game of Tetris, you shouldn't be able to do it in the board game. Going into more specifics, a piece can't be placed in to a completely closed space, meaning if there's a hole that would perfectly fit a piece, but it's completely surrounded by other pieces, you cannot place it in that hole, however if there is a side of that hole that is not blocked by pieces, and you would be able to place it in there if it was dropping down vertically from the opponent's side of the board, you can place it there. Also, as stated above, you cannot flip pieces, however you are allowed to rotate them left or right.

How To Win
There are 3 basic ways of winning the game:

1: The line has moved so close to your opponent that he/she can no longer place any more pieces.

2: The line has moved so close to your opponent that you can no longer advance the line any further.

3: The line has moved so close to your opponent that it collides with one or more of his/her pieces.

I think that's about it! Hopefully this wasn't too much of a drag to read, and hopefully I explained everything well enough. Have fun!
