***SHIP SPECS***
This ship is currently under restoration, and while mainly functional, it has been known to have gimbal problems. This ship has five decks plus a cargo steerage and a hanger. The ship is equipped with two escape pods, each carrying six people. The hanger has no connection ports and ships connect via landing gear. All Mare Marginis ships have eight utility vehicles ready to go. The hanger is capable of holding many more ships. There is no paint. Paint is heavy, especially on such a large ship.

***BACK STORY***
This antique vessel, built from 2031-2034, was once the pioneering flagship on humankind. This ship was the immediate byproduct of the invention of the ion thruster. With the technology advanced, humankind decided to build a base on the moon in Mare Marginis (Sea of the Edge), just East of Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility).

The transporting vessel, deamed Mare Marginis, carried a primary group of six settlers to build the settlement on the moon, once built the families that paid to live on the moon would arrive.

The Mare Marginis ships were not designed as shuttles, and by 2035, the settlement in Mare Marginis had six identical ships in the shipyard.

One of the families, the Smyths, remembered hearing about a newby mare called Mare Smyth II, they wanted to visit. With minimall training, the Smyths 'borrowed' one of the Mare Marginis ships from the shipyard, and headed off towards Mare Smyth II. Within the 300-mile trip, the Smyths managed to enter gimbal lock. They lost their relative point in space, and drifted aimlessly within the gravitational pull of the moon.

Hopeful someone would notice their disppearance and come looking for them, Mr. Smyth put the ship into a low orbit around the moon.

While they were gone, however, the CO2 scrubbers in the settlement failed, and everyone suffocated to death, getting out one last transmission to Earth.

The Interplanetary Civiliation Commission (ICC), deamed the settlement a disaster and officially pronounced every family member in the settlement dead. What the ICC didn't realize was that the Smyths weren't in the settlement, they were AWOL.

The Smyths heard the last tranmission from base, but without a gimbal, there was nothing they could do to return to base or Earth. They tried to send out a distress call to Earth, but their radio was too weak.

They drifted for the rest of their lives.

The ship was found in orbit a few decades later, after the ICC conducted its investigation and started another program. The ship was boarded and landed at the new base, where it sat until a few years ago when a collector found it.
