Note: It appears that the stats of the entire craft is the sum of all of its components. The structural components' positions and orientation within in no way affect the hitpoints and resistances of the craft itself. You do not have to worry about plating the outside of the craft with pieces of armor; as long as it is somewhere, the cumulative resistance of the armor will be applied to the entire craft.
