Description
The TIE/IN, or TIE Interceptor, was introduced only a few years after the establishment of the Empire and was a direct descendant of the technological upgrades that defined the TIE Advanced. The TIE Advanced proving too costly to produce on a large scale, the Interceptor shed many of it's nonessential systems, as with it's base model counterpart before it, making it cheaper and faster to manufacture. The upgraded engines led to a higher top speed than the basic TIE Fighter, and could best most Rebel fighters except for the A-wing, which itself was built to compete with the Interceptor and had a slightly higher top speed.

Equipped with four wing mounted cannons, the Interceptor had twice the firepower of the TIE Fighter causing it's target's shields to fail almost immediately and inflicting catastrophic damage thereafter. This, matched with it's speed, and the skill of the Empire's elite pilots, made the Interceptor a force to be reckoned with, especially in large numbers. It made it's main debut in the Battle of Endor and inflicted mass casualties on the side of the Rebellion before they acheived victory.

Nothing fancy, just some minor visual updates and to reduce visible thruster flare with an almost unnoticeable boost to performance as well. Still NOT thruster friendly, sorry guys!

Ah yes! Also, be sure to enable oxygen in the advanced game settings so the O2 generator will function!

And don't forget to rate! It keeps me inspired to continue bringing you all new builds! Otherwise I just nod off and build stuff for myself that ends up collecting space dust :P

Interestingly, in the expanded universe of Star Wars,
the Imperials were actually using these things shortly
after Episode IV, but before Episode V. I know this
because I played a Lucasarts game where you play
as Luke Skywalker in the Rogue Squadron and that
is the time period it is set in.

Well... the "Physics update" has for all intents and purposes rendered most of my creations unusable. I'm sorry guys, but until keen decides to quit messing with things, I am done with this game. I'm tired of having to recreate everything nearly from scratch that took me hours to build because they won't leave well enough alone.
