The Italian automobile company, Elsa, shocked the world when it entered their brand-new Pennine into the Global Rallycross Championship back a few years ago. This stylish hatchback was the first car to compete in the league for Italy. Being the first turbo four cylinder car ever made by the company as well, they teamed up with Ford Performance to produce an Ecoboost racing engine for it. Although the Pennine was sligtly down on power compared to the competition, the 650 horsepower beast won still won several manufacturer titles because it made up for it weight and cornering grip. The rallycross fans loved the car so much that Ford started selling their own restyled version of the car, breathing life back into the discontinued Escort.
