Correct. The problem is that this mod edits the weapon script file, and HUD icon mods edit the same file. It's kind of lame, but that's how VALVe developed it.
Most likely you have another Desert Eagle mod that's conflicting. On the main menu, look for this mod in the Addons menu. If the name is colored red, there is a conflicting mod.
Could be a mod conflict. Is the mod colored red in your in-game addons list?
i installed it and the magnum still haves 8 shots
Yeah, that's a known issue, annoying with a mod like this that kinda needs a revolver-looking mod to make only having six rounds make sense. Still, I can't really remove the reload speed edit because of the tiny 6-round mag.
You can always edit my mod on your end and just remove that ReloadDuration line from the .txt file. I made a guide on how to do that here:

Technically it's a guide for Black Mesa, but it works the same way for L4D2, with only two differences: Firstly is that you need to put your finished edited version of my mod into your "addons" folder in your L4D2 directory and replace mine (give it the same name and overwrite mine). Secondly, you need to have the Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools installed (from the Tools tab in your game library) for the "vpk.exe" to appear in your L4D2 directory.
If you need any help with that, I'd be happy to answer any questions.
