It seems to only matter about being WOTC compatiable when you wish to use it for the new soldier classes. Otherwise, as said below, vanilla voice packs do indeed work.

what @CaseyAnthony said. i have somewherearound twenty different voice mods for vanilla xcom and they all work with WOTC.
