The Magician’s Secret

In a run down theater, in a busy town,
Where wealth and entertainment thrived,
A magic show was close to shutting down,
Which meant, no carrots for the bunnies to survive.

Without an audience, there could be no shows.
One ticket cost just one carrot, but if no one came,
The bunnies would starve, skinny as scarecrows.
And the magician, to his shame, was seemingly to blame.

To solve their problem, they put their heads together.
They planned, plotted, and projected the success
Of their very next trick, and altogether,
They practiced for perfection, nothing less.

The magician readied himself, straightening his hat.
He waved his hands and chanted a few words,
“Abracadabra - Alakazam - Ala-ka-zat!”
And just like that, applause could be heard.

The show was a success, they had filled a seat!
Yet, they hung their heads in seeming defeat, as,
Many tummies still rumbled with nothing to eat.
On empty stomachs, they had to plan their very next feat.

And so again, they put their heads together.
To plan, to plot, and to project the success
Of their very next trick, and altogether,
They practiced for perfection, nothing less.

The Magician readied himself, tugging at his gloves.
He waved his hands and chanted a few words,
“Abracadabra - Alakazam - Ala-ka-dove!”
And just like that, applause could be heard.

The show was a success, they had filled some seats!
Yet, they hung their heads in seeming defeat, as,
many tummies still rumbled with nothing to eat.
They had to plan, plot, and project their next great feats.

“Abracadabra - Alakazam - Ala-ka-mond!”
“Abracadabra - Alakazam - Ala-ka-ven!”
“Abracadabra - Alakazam - Ala-ka-bit!”

Trick after trick, they planned, plotted, and projected,
Until their show overflowed, with encore after encore.
Gold and diamonds as payment were accepted,
Buckets and barrels of gifts were collected, and so much more.

What joy and fun, success had brought!
But still, there was a secret kept,
The Magician’s secret was a ploy, a plot,
A grand illusion none could suspect:

The Magician’s secret was the best trick yet,
In essence, the magician was not as he appeared.
You see, he was no more than a simple marionette;
A puppet, a ruse, that the cleverest of bunnies [had] engineered.
