The man formerly known as Cassius Clay often proclaimed himself to be the Greatest of All Time, and by the end of his storied career, it ceased to be a mere nickname. Muhammad Ali was one of the most significant athletes of the 20th century, having fought for civil rights, against the Vietnam War, and having one of the strongest in-ring resumes of the century. Defeating the likes of Archie Moore, Floyd Patterson, Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and even fighting pro wrestler Antonio Inoki in a proto-MMA fight is a list that few could approach.

Ali succinctly summed up his skills when he claimed to "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." His dizzying footwork and remarkable reflexes were paired with a cast-iron chin and a deadly jab.
