It holds up as a chill fishing simulator even in singleplayer, and the social aspect is great too. 10/10, would still be worth it if it costed $25 instead of $5

A gun with an alternate mode where it automatically aims itself that it's trivial to keep 100% uptime? An interesting concept to say the least. Nowhere near as interesting or fun or interactive as some previous dlc weapons, but not too horrendous since at least you can change the amount it auto aims by using the fire mode toggle. Although its damage is a bit high...

A staff that marks enemies to explode when you hit them, with a meter that you can activate to make all nearby enemies explode upon getting hit in addition to the marking effect? Seems pretty cool. Too bad the honing is so strong that where you aim literally doesn't matter, and changing the firing mode just makes it automatically activate the meter every time it's full. Even if you're willing to look past that it's still ridiculously overtuned to the point where you can just kind of hold m1 and everything dies even without using the (incredibly fast charging) meter.

A dragon sidekick that floats over your hand that you can direct to attack enemies? Wait, nevermind, starfly isn't that. The dragon just attacks enemies on its own without any real input from the player, even if you're in a state where you normally wouldn't be allowed to attack. Ok, so maybe it's meant for skill-based characters, allowing you to deal some passive damage while you focus on your skills? Cloud needles did that better, but those require actual effort to manage, so starfly would still have it's own niche that way. Wrong again! The damage is ridiculously high, ESPECIALLY in its powered up mode. In case you were thinking you would have to lift a finger for that, don't worry, changing the fire mode lets the game do that for you too just like the staff.

I did not buy a first person shooter game so I could ignore the shooter mechanics. I am removing this DLC from my account and look forward to never seeing those weapons in my runs again.

at this point the only thing I want from the game is for it to not take a miracle to reach the manager without dying a billion times when using one of the more gimmicky starter decks

Pretty good game, there's a lot to go through but there just isn't much of any of that "a lot". I'd suggest getting it on sale, I got it days before it went on sale and really regret that.

The movement is good. The gunplay is good. But I cannot recommend this game in good faith. Why? The level design. More specifically, the lack thereof. You see, enemies spawn at what seems to be a set rate with a soft cap on enemies present. They come in a consistent stream, where fighting them off isn't particularly difficult, but you're not even incentivized to kill anything because they just don't let up. The game would be 10x better if there was any sort of tactical challenge to the combat but there just isn't. Other minor gripes include the fact that crafting times are in intervals of 12 hours rather than say intervals of 9 so if you start a 24 hour craft late at night you have to collect it late at night the next day (whereas if it was an 18 hour craft you could pick it up the next afternoon and it would be a kajillion times more accessible), and that the main thing a lot of players seem to be interested in is optimizing what little fun was there was out of the grind, and for what? Certainly not their own enjoyment.

A bit too easy for my liking. I went and challenged an optional boss while a bit underleveled, only to beat it without even taking damage just by spamming the same two attacks.

Early Access Review
A marked improvement over the first game in so many ways, definitely still rough around the edges but it's very fun even in its current state
