Rewriting my review of this game. Most will be the same but will have additions

It's been a few months of playtime and this game surprised me even further compared to the point I wrote my last review on. I was very into World of Warcraft for a few years, so committing to another MMO was an iffy one for me. That being said, I have been enjoying FFXIV.

There's a lot of features that make it a preferred MMO currently to WoW, one big one for me being the class system. The ability to quite literally play every class at once on the same character is a nice touch, instead of having a limit to one. The diversity of the classes is pretty good too. I also like the way FFXIV looks in general. It's a very nicely designed game, and the character models are fun to design and play with. The music for the game sounds great on top of this, especially for some of the raids and dungeons.

The story has it's dull points, and there are moments where I didn't find it interesting enough to watch the cutscenes. I played the Shadowbringers and Endwalker DLCs and I can wholeheartedly say that it gets SO much better later on. The story telling in this game is gripping and it makes me wish the expansions were longer. The later DLCs tie the story together perfectly, referencing things from very early on that were left open-ended. It's a very emotional story, and there were times I had to take a couple minute break to process how I was feeling. There are also some really enjoyable dungeons, trials, etc. that I replayed immediately because running through them didn't seem like a chore.

Now, if you aren't willing to sit through a ton of cut-scenes, or do a whole lot of grinding, definitely not for you. To understand the story and what's going on, at least to a vague degree, the cut-scenes and interactions will prove to be important.

Those are a few things that I can mention without typing up an entire essay on the game. Essentially, it is an enjoyable game, and the content they add is pretty consistent with a positive experience. There's a few downhill moments but it is still worth trying the two week free trial to see if you enjoy it.
