鸿日当空，炙烤大地，崎岖山谷上的船艇昭示着这里曾经是一片汪洋。只有巨塔山静静地立着，其中的运河古城，俯仰之间，已为陈迹。让世界恢复如初的契机，或许在山巅之上。

不像刺客信条里的飞檐走壁，退潮的攀爬系统精简又拟真，作为游戏的核心玩法，玩家需要利用岩壁凸起在山体上攀爬，其间挑战不断，钉在岩壁上的安全扣能让玩家不至于落到起点，规划好路线就能在体力耗尽和缆绳用尽前爬上平台或者休息点。游戏里的解密简单易懂，是增加游戏趣味的调料品，驻足眺望时耳旁平和的配乐让玩家身临其境。岩石之中有一套独特的生态系统，各种各样的奇妙动植物在旅途中等待着被发现。
